What is your favorite brand of computer?
July 18, 2003 at 2:30 am #59288witchMemberIBM. Call me old fashioned, but it works for me!
July 18, 2003 at 2:46 am #59269BrianMemberWell, I am currently using one of my Dell computer.
Call me a computer junkie. 😀
I have two other Dells, two Hewlett-Packards, two Compaqs, one IBM, one Packard-Bell and four Apples.

July 18, 2003 at 5:08 am #59286.ParticipantNone of these actually. I like to custom build my computer from various companies who offer the best in each device I am buying.

I prefer custom buidling as well. You can chose all your HW, it’ll end up cheaper in the long run, and you don’t have to worry about strange hands touch your baby. 😉 I actually do get kind of nervous when other people start rummaging thru my computer.
The only downside is the lack of warranty, but if you know what you’re doing, you shouldn’t need one.
July 18, 2003 at 9:42 am #59278coolguyj2Memberwell I prefer a PC configured by me for my use… i use an assembled PC and I am happy with it….
July 18, 2003 at 3:17 pm #59264rustedtightMemberthere’s not enough choice here, where is the vote for “home build” put, where is the vote for “Other” put or “custom” or…?
July 18, 2003 at 4:09 pm #59268ironman912MemberHP seemed to have more computer for the money.
July 18, 2003 at 4:47 pm #59279freddyMemberI prefer a custom built one too, wether I build it, or someone else does it to my spec. You get what you want then, and it’s cheaper than paying for a brand name.
Hmm, my website is powered by a Dell Server though.
July 18, 2003 at 7:09 pm #59285erasedMemberI’ve got a dell laptop, a HP, and one i have built
July 18, 2003 at 7:12 pm #59287BookieMemberI’m a custom-build guy. It’s difficult to compare prices because different makers put different quality parts in their machines. I paid $1050 for the computer I built a year ago (not including software but included keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc). I could have saved money and bought an HP for a lot less with all the software but I would have only gotten a 5400 rpm drive, a cheap power supply, and other less quality parts. I still feel I saved money because the computer I built looked a lot more like a higher-end Dell or Alienware computer that would cost $2000+ and not one of those cheap HPs. It’s hard to compete $-wise with some of the $500-$800 computers if you want great components.
Of this list, though, I’d probably prefer a Dell over anything. Hey, where’s Alienware, anyway?! 🙂
