It is a forced upgrade to the current version. You will need to update or you will be unable to login period.
You can read more about it here.
alright well all i gotta say is thanks anyway and **** damn it why did they had to do that update or problem in the first place lol well cya thanks anyway haha
The update is required due to a security exploit.
what exploit is that
From the Windows Live Spaces blog for Messenger:
The upgrade will provide customers with the latest software updates including code fixes and feature enhancements, as well address vulnerabilities discussed in the Microsoft Security Advisory 973882 that existed in previous versions of Windows Live Messenger.
so ur saying with this update it can fix my problem without having to put the new version maybe?
No. You must upgrade or you will not be able to sign in. That’s what a forced upgrade is.
k well i did it now it works but whats weird is that my sister had this version b4 me and still does and now she got the problem so i dont think it has to do with that could be something else plus i had more ppl on my other 1 then this i dunno why here i have 350 other 1 was like 360 or 361 plus non messaging ones and in groups some maybe
There are connectivity issues as well as missing contact issues with the new version. The WLM team is aware of them and is working on them.
However, it sounds like the biggest of your issues was resolved by applying the mandatory upgrade. I’d sit tight and hopefully they will have a fix for the other issues soon.
k thanks
Try removing anything that needs to bypass the firewall like zone alarm or Norton. Except one time I did that my computer then kept accessing pay sites and such.
