Control Panel

MemberI’ve had this problem also… here is a little more about the error…
“Sorry, we wwere unable to sign you into Windows Live Messenger at this time. Please try again later.
To let us try and troubleshoot the problem, click the troubleshoot button.
Error code: 80048820
Extended Error code: 80028206
I clicked on the troubleshoot button, and I got all check marks (on Ip, default gateway, IE’s offline setting, hosts file, dns, proxy server and key ports). It didn’t check wireless, because I don’t have wireless on my desktop. hope this helps with the problem, cuz I’d like to have it back.October 9, 2006 at 10:20 pm #130493Soccer4dummys
Memberok, I have to give credit for llela for this one, it can be found at this site: https://bigblueball.com/forums/windows-live-messenger/38093-error-81000306-a.html, but the main idea of it is if you have zone alarm… it may be caused by an update that was recently installed. zone alarm has a thread that you can visit at this site: zonalarm with windows live messenger – ZoneAlarm Configuration – Zone Labs User Forum The main idea behind this is to either sit and wait for them to come up with another update, or to try to shut it down for a few seconds, and start msn, just to see if it works. I understand if you don’t want to shutdown your firewall, I wouldn’t either, but I want to know if this workes, please post!

Possible Solution #2:
The error code 80048820 is usually caused by an incorrect clock/date setting so be sure to check your system’s clock and calendar.
Be particularly certain that it is set to the right month, the right day and the right time. Ensure that the AM or PM is set correctly as well as the year. Often the time will be correct but the year will not be. Likewise, it’s common for the time to be correct but the AM/PM setting is out.
Hmmmm….British summertime clocks went back in the early hours of this morning. I am now encountering similar problems with my msn messenger.
Error code: 80048820
Extention: 80048439My system clock updated itself automatically and the problems started after it did this. I’m still reading through older files on BigBlueBall to see if i can resolve the problem.
