May 15, 2005 at 12:41 am #118851TigerbladeParticipantto kick someone off of what? AIM in general? like someone didnt like your font and used a booter on you?
in general, i’d say no, but i’ve seen some people that insist on using really hideous color combinations. not necessarily hideous like “oh my gawd what are you wearing” kind of combinations, more of a “you’re using hot pink text on bright yellow background and my retinas are burning” kind of combos. there have been times where i’d like to force them to change their settings.
then i realize that’s another reason to switch to trillian, because you can set what incoming messages look like. no more hot pink on fluorescent backgrounds.

Thanks but Im talking about bigblueball…he insists that my color is hurting HIM so he threatens to suspend my account..FYI I didnt vote yes..my brother did..Please vote no!
May 15, 2005 at 12:51 am #118850TigerbladeParticipantI can’t say that I disagree with “him”. that color font is extremely hard to read. Why cant you use something less harsh on the eyes? blue, or grey, or purple even. why bright pink?
May 15, 2005 at 12:57 am #118852NessaParticipantFor a second i was going to put no, BUT then i read the post in bright pink and that does hurt. I mean you shouldn’t get kicked out right off, but if you have been asked and warned about it, then you should be. In a forum you should follow the rules and if you can’t oblige to one simple thing like font color usage, i doubt you should be allowed to do more.

May 15, 2005 at 12:58 am #118848Someguy03MemberSee the thing is that most font colors ARE hard to read on forums. It’s nice to keep black because it makes everything easy on the eyes and also keeps everything looking clean.
May 15, 2005 at 1:00 am #118844OreoMemberWho is “HIM” exactly? Your original post was kind of vague. And if you have noticed, Advisors DO have the right to change font colour, it’s in the guidelines. As a general rule, they are only used to emphasize something important.

To be honest, if said “person” whomever they are, thinks that you don’t apparently know how to use font color usage correctly, then, yes, they should insist you not use any color at all. And the color differences are there for proper uses like when you need to make a point clear and across, which is rarely. But those options are there for people who use them correctly.May 15, 2005 at 1:05 am #118846OreoMemberTaken directly from the posting guidlines thread:
Posting Guidelines wrote:Use Color and Fonts Sparingly
Resist the urge to get artistic, and use colors and fonts sparingly, usually to emphasize a small piece of text in your entire post. Do not change the color or font of your entire post or there’s a good chance a moderator will change it back. We’ve chose the default font and colors to make it easily readable for everyone; please respect those choices. There are so many colours so when colour IS needed there are choices. If everyone used all sorts of colours on the site, it would start to look like a colouring book. How seriously would people take a site where all of the posts are in rainbow?
Why is this in the AIM section? This sounds more like something that belongs in suggestions.

Re-read Oreo’s post completely and you shall see why. (Used when deemed necessary, which is rare, but can happen.)May 15, 2005 at 1:15 am #118857topramen422Memberhatedjealousy wrote:Re-read Oreo’s post completely and you shall see why. May 15, 2005 at 1:16 am #118849Someguy03MemberOreo has layed out the guidelines clear and simple. So please, stop arguing and abide by them.
EDIT: locked.
