Guy keeps booting me off Y!msgr!!.. :o(

hey,
Okay, i’m new to this website! and i’m from Australia, as you can probably tell by my username!..

Here’s my story!.. I met this guy in yahoo chatroom, he sounded really nice. My friends had met him before i did, at another stage!.. Anyway, he wanted to add me, so i let him add me. Then i deleted him, since he started saying harrassing things. I ignored him, but he would still get through with his im’s saying if i dont talk to him, he’s going to keep booting me.Thats when he started going on about how i’m not his friend, when i hardly knew the guy. He’d start booting me off messenger, i’d log off! I always had to keep re-loggining in! The booting kept re-occuring, since i didnt want to talk to him. Then i wrote him an message, asking for him to please leave me alone, but he still kept booting me.

Well, he’s left me alone for a few hours since i think he mus’v gone to sleep. He told me he’s age was 20 from the usa, and like, i’m 15..he was harrassing me, wouldn’t you call him a stalker? just the thought of that freaks me out. Also, whilst he kept sending me im’s, he was saying i cant get away from him, since that he has over 5,000 id names.. Okay, now thats just scary if its true! He also is harrassing my friends, but there not as scared as me, which is unbelievable!

These are the yahoo id’s i know so far: s_t_u_n_n_e_r_6_8, shotgun_bob03, shotgun_bob_says_you_going_down.

Please i need some help, how does he have control to boot me??..and how do i get rid of the boot?..i dont want to lose my yahoo id name, since its an awesome id name, i created by myself!

By the way..i’m really sorry that this is long!!!..But if anyway can help me, and get this jerk to leave me alone, it would be great!!!

lil ozzy you should report him to yahoo as a stalker kinda really sounds like one ,also some things you can do to slow the booting is set your messages to open in one window ingnore anyone whos not on your freind list and never accept invites . you might wanna try a third party chat cleint Like Jam, Y!mlite , Quick chat. go here and you can see what they look like http://www.chat-help.co.uk/

Okay, your best bet is probably to use Y!tunnel, and reporting him wont’ do any good, cause if they delete his account, you can bet he has several, so there’s not much yahoo will do with that. Here are a few things you can do: 1) login under invisible mode, so he can’t tell when you get online (also change the settings in your preferences so that he can’t see if you’re online from your profile) 2) Make a whole new account. I know, you prolly don’t want to do that, but it’ll definately get him off your back, especially if you don’t provide any information about yourself in your new profile. Those are your best 2 options other than adding Y!tunnel onto your comp.

Thanks zhugeliang!!..Yeah, your right about that, i dont wanna get a new account. But now, anyone who isnt on my friends list is totally ignored, which i’ve changed my preferences and it wont allow anyone who isnt classified my friend to im me! And i havnt been booted for a while, so i think either that stalker has left me alone, or he cant get through!!.. Thanks to everyones options and suggestions!! Hopefully this stalker guy, actually always leaves me alone!

please don’t get the wrong impression about guys from the USA. Believe it or not, some of us actually aren’t stalkers.

but really, this is may or may not be serious. did you give him any personal info? Hopefully not! report him straight away…maybe you could find some way to log and block his IP. i’m sure there’s a way.

the guy’s a jerkwad. dont worry, the USA is filled with cool, un-perverted, non-stalker people, too.

hey again flaming_guns..thanks for your suggestion!!..I think he has left me alone for good, but i’m not sure!!!! and the only info i gave out was only 16/f/aus..thats it! I know most USA people arent stalkers, and the USA people, that i’ve either replied to there topic or they replied to mine have been extremely nice! I Know its not all USA people, just the few which are low-lifes and love to stalk people!

Gaz, yet again you have proven your lack of intelligence. What did you think would happen if you confronted this person? We do not appreciate suggestions that encourage annoyance and bad IM behavior, no matter who the intended victim may be. Buzzing someone such as this continually will more likely encourage him to continue his treatment and make things worse, not to mention the fact that you would have just lowered yourself to his level.

There is a simple way to block a booter almost permanently which I have not seen listed on this forum. If this is already posted somewhere then I didn’t see it.

If you have a personal firewall such as BlackIce or ZoneAlarms, obtain the IP address of the booter and add it to your blocked list. Obtaining the offenders IP address is as simple as sending him/her an Instant Message. Run Netstat -a -p tcp 1 > c:prot.txt from a command prompt before sending the IM. This will initiate a basic network connections log which will also reveal the IP address of the remote user. After sending the IM and recieving a reply check the c:prot.txt log for the new connection which will also show the IP address of the remote user. Then go into your personal firewall or border router and add the IP address to your deny list.

If the user is on dial up, this will not be very effective, however its quite effective if the user has broadband because the IP address rarely changes. If the booter/user will not reply to an IM there are other ways to obtain the IP address which I will not detail here.

Personally I use YahElite configured in the following manner. I have never been booted using the following configuration:

Chat Protocol: YCHAT
Chat Servers: jcs1.chat.dcn.yahoo.com port 8002
jcs2.chat.dcn.yahoo.com port 8002
jcs3.chat.dcn.yahoo.com port 8002
jcs4.chat.dcn.yahoo.com port 8002 [Most Reliable]

The only problem with that theory is the fact that IM’s go through the Yahoo servers, and only actually reveal the others IP if you have established a direct connection (file transfer, webcam convo). Nice idea though!
