hi all
recently a lot of discussion was happening in this forum about MAGIC PS, so I thought of searching and testing it on myself (no ha*king purpose)… the software works like a charm and its latest versions are undetected by Norton Anti Virus (didnt test on Mc Afee)… now the point of this topic is not to praise this product but the point is how to check if its in ur system…
the thing is quite simple to check…
well bfor that i will ask a question… when u sign into Y! messenger, did u ever see a FLASHING IM BOX??? I mean it just appears and disappears in a flash. If yes, then go to Y! MESSENGER -> TOOLS -> MESSAGE ARCHIVE and check all the people u have chat with… if u see any suspicious ID then just check the chat u had with tht person… if the chat looks like this
your name here (time you logged on to Y! messenger): This ID Hacked by : Magic-PS v1.1 Beta ===> USER=your user name PASS=your password here IP=your computer IP OS=your OS
then, I feel sad to say that u r being HA*KED… now dont panic… just follow the following instructionsIn case you havent enabled Message Archive, then enable it and then shutdown Y! Messenger… restart it and sign in… and then check the Message Archive for the above mentioned thing.
1) Close Y! messenger and uninstall it completely
2) Go to [root directory]Program FilesYahoo! and delete the following directory —- Messenger.
3) Reboot your computer
4) Now download any spy removing software… the 2 software I recommend are
Webroot Spy Sweeper
And
Spybot – Search And Destroy
Download, Install and Update all the definitions of the software…
5) After that Run the software and let it scan your system for spywares… after the scan it will show you all the spies it has found… use your own head to check what spies are beneficial and what are not (If you are confused I recommend Webroot Spy Sweeper… it has the function for showing details of spies (requires Internet Access))
6) Restart the computer and reinstall Y! messenger… you can download Y! messenger from any of the links…
Y! official Site
All Version OF Y! messenger (Site Duly Tested by many BBB Members)
Recommended: Y! messenger 5.5 build 1254 available at second site
7) Now run the messenger… If the flashing box again appears then go to Start -> Run and type regedit
8) A new window opens up, over there press Ctrl + F and type sender.exe and search. Delete all the keys found with this search string…
9) Again restart the computer and try again… If this still happens then you are unlucky, u will have to reinstall everything from scratch…P.S.:- I mailed the person who created this software for its anti patch and he mailed me the patch… I havent tested it as my problem was solved by above steps only… if your problem is not solved by above steps, then I would ask you to give this a try… the link for the patch is as follows
Anti Magic PS
the file is abt 4kb…
Best of LuckI hope the above information helps any one who has been infected….

as it is said… nothing is perfect 😉 so is the problem with meNovember 15, 2003 at 4:26 am #53697coolguyj2MemberUPDATE: If your Norton’s Virus Definitions are up to date, then NORTON does detect the trojan when you unknowingly/knowingly try to access it… No idea if it does to already infected PC’s (it should be doing this but…)
Also, no idea abt McAfee… or other antivirusesNovember 16, 2003 at 6:33 pm #53707kiki_lickerMemberThank you for your post! i just saw the flashing messenger window and checked my message archive. i found a folder with sn encryp1on opened the sumbitch and said ps hacked my sn. i did a search for the ps and found ur forum. i ran the trojan test but it says to turn my firewll off and run again. i will follow ur steps and hopefully get rid of it! thanks again! btw, is there anyway to find out who is trying to get my info???

well u can know the persons ID but the person is clever so he/she will be using a fake ID… open ur messenger archive (u shld have it enabled) and look for some anonymous ID… it shld have the lines I quoted in the post…
as for ur second question
i dont think it is a realtion b/w Y! tunnel and MAGIC PS…
also, i have tried the tool ANTI MAGIC PS… it works great….November 16, 2003 at 7:55 pm #53705kiki_lickerMemberthanks again for your quick reply! this site rocks!
