MemberIs there any way or bot available that makes it possible to directly logon in the “Appear Offline” mode. Of all the messengers I know of, it is perhaps possible only in ICQ. Does anybody know anything about it????

KeymasterI agree with Dipsy. MSN Messenger won’t let you sign in with your status = “appear offline.”
For what it’s worth, in addition to ICQ, Yahoo Messenger also lets you sign-in as “invisible.”

MemberIs this still the case now? I notice that the last reply was in May, so I was wondering if it had changed since. I got a new computer with windows xp and I could have swore I saw somehow, somewhere that I could sign on invisible mode… and I have looked and looked but cant find it again. Maybe I was delusional or something. But I thought I would ask and see anyway….
anyone know?
thanks 🙂December 8, 2002 at 11:29 pm #102117Tony
MemberThere is one funny thing about this. The MSN protocol supports signing in with status Appear offline. This means that the limitation is in the MSN Messenger client…

ParticipantIueww why would anyone waste their time blocking every…… single…….. contact……… on their……… list n’ then unblock……… every……. one of……….. them ……….. when…….. they………. sign……… in…….. ?
I know this is an old topic but since it’s been ressurected – for anyone still looking for an answer:
Here’s a lil’ something by Kaos which includes another app of MSN Messenger – which will always sign in the Appear Offline mode (although it shows as Away – you are really appearing offline until you change your status). As well – it has a forbidden word filter (I think?) and the feature to make hard enters (screennames with seperate lines).December 9, 2002 at 9:25 am #102122Phil
Memberwhat you can do is use trillian (http://www.trillian.cc)…there is an option that allows you to save the status that you last had when you exited trillian last…i find this useful because most of the time, i appear offline before fully shut down trillian….so when i come to use trillian again, i log in and my status is appear offline! i find it really useful if you just want to log in to see if you have any emails or to see if someone is online, without being bombarded wif messages from others.

MemberI dont want to block anyone, I just wondered if I could do that ,since sometimes I only have about 3 minutes and I just want to check email without someone seeing me as online, and getting their feelings hurt if i suddenly leave, or telling them i have to go. I was just curious. I have never tried trillian, but maybe I should. Suddenly my msn will auto connect now too. It is not checked to remember passwords, but it will still sign in without asking for it. I am not in no way shape or form a messenger expert, and I jsut love talking on them, but it is annoying for it to auto sign in.
I will piddle with it till i either figure it out, or destroy it 🙂
thanks for the answers.December 10, 2002 at 4:41 pm #102123Faizan
MemberI think ur messenger signs in automaticlly because u don’t sign out after using it…u just disconnect ur internet connection! Am I right?

MemberFaizan, I have tried to sign completely out, and it does shut down then, and i have to click it to start it, but it used to ask for the password at that point, and now it wont, it just signs me right on in.
And I have made sure the box is unchecked to rememeber passwords. I know it was doing it perfectly the way I wanted, then suddenly it stopped. I dont know if my kids messed with it, or what, but I just wanted the password to be ask for before starting it again, cause nobody knows it but me. The kids have their own, and dont need mine. Anyway,,, thanks yall, for your help.May 29, 2003 at 6:30 pm #102130Marapretty
MemberYes, there is an add-on to Msn Messenger that lets you sign in, and appear offline, (it shows you’re in online mode, but you’re invisible) it’s called “offline starter” and it can be found here:

Have fun !!!!!

ParticipantActually we perfer links in english, as alot of us do speak that and not spanish. You can download messenger plus (v5x only for now) and set your settings to boss protection to show as offline and while you sign in press ctrl space, and you are offline, if you want to see who is online, right click on the icon beside the clock (it will now be a ‘my computer’ image, pont to “send an instant message” and it will show you everyone online.
