Do you know touch typing technique? If then how fast do you type?
*Our typing speed parameter is ‘words/minute’.
December 5, 2004 at 8:15 pm #107293AqeelParticipantIt’s means I’m too slow, these results show that.
December 5, 2004 at 8:33 pm #107287gossipingraeMemberi had to take a keyboarding class when I was a sophomore in high school, and it taught me a lot. the result being I type 70+ words/minute. I also learned not to look at the keys when I type…i was so excited about that! 🙂
December 5, 2004 at 8:48 pm #107294AqeelParticipantIs there any specific kind of keyboard thay would be best for typing.
December 6, 2004 at 7:19 am #107288gossipingraeMemberumm I dunno, I learned on a keyboard lol
December 6, 2004 at 7:46 am #107280RabidKittenParticipantI know that in america, Ageel, they teach you on a Qwerty keyboard. Of course, it used to be alphabetical like in germany (right country I think) but they found out that the keys were getting too worn out too fast on typewriters, so they had a bunch of super smart people sit around and figure out what order they could put the keys in to make it as difficult as possible (no I’m not kidding) to work for the english language and came out with the Qwerty.
I haven’t had a test in about 3 years, but back then I did 60-70 depending with 98% accuracy. They didn’t allow the backspace either so it was really strict and hardcore. And you had to type for 5 minutes straight to get an accurate reading. My Gross WPM was something like 80s but my Net was usually around the 60-70.
December 6, 2004 at 7:10 pm #107295AqeelParticipantWOW; really great speed you gat SAM*. But I’m too slow..:( Basically I’m a hardware phreak so that’s why I didn’t have given typing any special attention. Also English is not my mother tongue so it’s another reason that I’m slow. And also that’s why you see many grammer and spelling mistakes in my posts:D. I’m trying to improve it… and soon it would be better. Right at the moment my typing speed is about 40 w/m.
I’m practising it on a simple keyboard…
Well the Germens, hahaha there enemity continues… Keep it up people.:)December 6, 2004 at 8:23 pm #107275DJHyperbyteMemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by RabidKittenit used to be alphabetical like in germany (right country I think)
No, Germany has a ‘QWERTY’ keyboard layout too, except that the Z and Y are switched around.
December 11, 2004 at 3:45 am #107281RabidKittenParticipantHuh, I had heard from someone that Germany types with an alphabetical keyboard. I’m going to have to smack them up next time I see them then *firm nod*
December 11, 2004 at 4:28 am #107283AwesomeSauceParticipantWell I couldn’t quite remember what my typing speed was, so I searched Google and found http://www.typingtest.com
Gross speed: 48 WPM
Net speed: 45 WPM
Accuracy: 94%
Yeah, I need to work on my typing. I still have to look at the keyboard occasionally and I use the wrong fingers half of the time. But I’m taking a keyboarding class next semester, so hopefully that will help.
December 13, 2004 at 12:50 am #107274SathallrinMemberI tried that typing test AwesomeSauce posted.
Gross speed: 59 WPM
Net speed: 59 WPM
Accuracy: 100%
Basically a word a second… not too bad.
December 13, 2004 at 12:57 am #107286SpikeMemberI took a test awhile ago and got 38 WPM, with 97% accuracy. And I never took a typing class. I just never learned how to do it, so now I look at the keys while I type and all I do is hunt-and-peck with all 10 fingers. It works for me. 😉
December 13, 2004 at 1:02 am #107282RabidKittenParticipant*claps Sir Sauciness on the back* Adda boy, way to use your noggin. Too bad they only had a 3 minute test. Would’ve been nice to go the whole 5.
Gross:65
Net:62
Accuracy:98Seems I’ve slowed down a bit, gross wise at least. That and this room is freezing cold so that didn’t help matters *glares at the humidifier*
Yeah, Spike. I remember before I took my class I was up in the 40s. The class was uber easy, but I took it mainly for the learning how to format business letters aspect of it, the added WPM was a plus.
December 13, 2004 at 12:46 pm #107296AqeelParticipantWell a little bit improvement:o Accurcy 91% Net speed 38 WPM too slow… I take this test on the link which is flashed above.
December 23, 2004 at 7:14 pm #107290LLXerxesMemberwhen I tested at school it was around 65 WPM. On but often tiems on tests I got over 70 and once or twice over 90.
butwhen i’m being lazy or normal it’s like 60 -
