August 27, 2005 at 6:27 pm #128848princeGParticipant🙁 That sounds bad, I also hope that everyone will be fine and that we’ll see you soon again. We’ll keep in touch by cell.
You have these things often there, it’s very scary. Here we get earthquakes but it’s a story for another time.
August 28, 2005 at 1:23 am #128830Jeff HesterKeymasterI have a sister in FL. So far she’s been lucky. Only had to board up and leave once. Lucifina I hope all will be ok.
August 28, 2005 at 3:34 pm #128833OreoMemberI hope you are back soon reading this post…I see that evil Katrina might get to 6! YIKES! I hope you have been spirited safely out of harm’s way and come back just as safely. 🙂
August 28, 2005 at 7:42 pm #128841LucifinaMemberhello all i do love radioshack they are kind enough to have internet i just wanted to say i’m here in McComb MS and so far all is well here, but new orleans isn’t fairing so well. Katrina is now the most powefull hurricane it’s a Category 5 and it looks to be heading straight towards the mouth of the Mississippi River and to New Orleans which is not good. If this should happen then New Orleans may very well be no more and I am not joking. Thanks for all the well wishes I hope to be back soon and that things are back to normal. Please pray for us! Love you all

September 2, 2005 at 2:15 am #128849princeGParticipantI’d like to update you about her cause she got in touch with me.
She is not in Louisiana now, she will come back there on Monday for a day or two and then she will leave again. Her house is flooded. She is doing ok and her dad is ok as well cause she was scared about his life since he had to stay behind (he’s a police officer). She said that her school is flooded up to the second or third floor, lessons will begin in December again. She doesn’t know when she’s coming back online at the moment.September 2, 2005 at 2:45 am #128831Jeff HesterKeymasterthank you for keeping us posted. I had wondered how things were.
September 3, 2005 at 8:19 pm #128842LucifinaMemberHello all well I am doing physically ok. Emotionally is a completely different story. I am using my cousin’s computer and will not be using it often…i’ll explain that later. We finally got lights and water where I am now, but we hope to go back to my aunts soon. A tree fell on the power lines and pulled them out of the house so they still don’t have lights, but I think they have water back. I am not sure how my dad is doing, I haven’t heard from him and cannot get intouch with him for two or more days. Finally being able to watch the news has put another whole spin on things. Where you see people lining up on the interstate is right by my house. I cannot believe what I am seeing and I’m not even there. I just want to go home. We are supposed to be allowed back tuesday, but have to leave again for a month. My house does not have water or lights and I know my dad is running out. Thank you for all the well wishes and prayers it makes me feel better to see that people care. I will try to get back as much as I can…as I said it will not be often b/c I’ll get myself in trouble with my mouth…hence the explain later. Please if you can help do so in any way possible nothing is too small. Thank you so much…Love you all.
September 3, 2005 at 8:48 pm #128835OreoMemberIt is so GOOD to hear directly from you. Though, I know you must be going through so much right now. Please let us know what you believe is the best way to help out down there. There are so many ways, I know, but I think all of us want to give what does the most good. 🙂 Things will all work out in time. Try to stay positive…we are all with you in spirit!
September 8, 2005 at 9:03 pm #128843LucifinaMemberGod…what is the best way to help? I don’t know if I can answer that myself. I would ask you to donate canned goods, bottles of water, clothes, etc. I wouldn’t suggest money unless you know the creditals of the company. I will say that there are good beings in this world. As many of you know my father is still in N.O.. He had no water, electricity, food (do you realize that the police officers there where working with out sleep in these deplorable conditions) and neighbors who were allowed to come back just to get essentials brought him batteries, food, water, clothing, etc.:crying: . As far as the political aspects of this disaster…STOP!!!! STOP PLAYING THE DAMN BLAME GAME!!!! There will be plenty of time for that, but if you haven’t noticed we need help right now. I’ll be the first to tell you that New Orleans was not able to deal with this. I’ve told other’s that I talked to before that this type of storm was exactly what we were afraid of and knew what was going to happen. So, you may ask why didn’t people get out, etc…well my question to you is where are we to go and how? What about those that don’t have transportation or the money? Let me tell you isn’t not easy and it sure as hell isn’t as easy as the media makes it to be. Racism, lol, oh yea that one is funny too! Um, since when does it not happen or exist? You think I didn’t have that towards me? Think again! Now, yes I’m upset with the government and the speed it took to get people here to help….would you like to know why it took so long? It isn’t because LA didn’t want it or ask for it…it’s because the US government do not post troops in the path of a storm. Then, of course, you start the blame game….oh it’s the local government’s fault, no it’s the state’s fault, no it’s the federal government’s fault. I say the blame goes with each and every person not a damn agency! We are so selfish that we need something of this magnitude for us to say oh well we need to help it’s the godly thing to do…ok ok ok i’m not going into the religious aspect because I honestly don’t have the strength physically, mentally, or emotionally. I have dealt with fema, redcross, social security, banks, credit companies, doctors, insurance companies…everything since this has happened. I’m exhausted, but you know I feel very guilty b/c there are people that are much much much worse off than I….why should I be whining and upset? People have lost their loved ones; I’m just separated from my dad. Well…I don’t know. If this can be posted in another forum by all means move it. I’m sorry if i’ve upset anyone, etc. I shall try to get myself under more control. Thank you all for be concerned and helping I am truly thankful….more than I can possibly tell you. I’ll try my best to keep in touch and just pray for us.
September 9, 2005 at 8:14 am #128846sarahtownyMemberHun as far as I am concerned you have every right in the world to be upset, especially after what you have been through. We have all been very concerned about you. Just glad you’re safe and sound. I agree with you, at the moment lets concentrate on making things better for the people still in trouble, the people separated from their loved ones. Time for discussing the ‘who is to blame’ can be done later. Keep safe and I for one will certainly be thinking about you. Take care, and I hope see you back here very soon. :0)
