IM has probably done a whole lot for my typing. But when I type with the wrong fingers, i’ve got about a 36 WPM, and with the right fingers, a got about a 29. :s
Instant Messaging has helped my typing skills soooo much. I started typing without look at the keyboard at the end of the 6th grade, when I got back at 7th grade, I could type at about 65+ GWAM without looking. I probably had about 2 or 3 errors. I only use short hand terms when I use Instant Messengers, when I play video games, or when I’m on some forums. Instant Messaging does increase typing speed, no doubt about that.
PS. I just finished 8th grade. 😀
