Silly fools to think people would be gullible enough to fall for scams like that, the typos are surely enough to make one see it for what it really is, a ploy to rip off the innocent. Are people truly that silly?

August 30, 2002 at 5:41 am #100847Jeff HesterKeymasterYet another scam….
Quote:quote:I am Mrs Lydia Aku the wife of the former minister for sports and youth developments late Engineer Ishaya mark Aku whose sudden death occurred on the 4th of May 2002 on a plane crash.Having gotten your particulars from the family’s library, I have no doubt your capacity and good will to assist me in receiving into your custody (for safety)the sum of US$25 Million willed and deposited in my favour by my late husband.
This money has been currently kept in a trust Deposit Account with a Finance & Security Co. here in Nigeria. Only the Managing Director has the knowledge of this deposit, which is my husband’s close Associate. As it is legally required, the administration of my late husband property is under the authority of the family Lawyer named (BARR Onyeama Mike), However, the Government has on assumption of office setup a panel of inquiry to probe the financial activities of my late husband with a decision to freeze all his assets respectively. Fortunately, our family lawyer had secretly protected the Personal will of my husband from notice of the investigators and have strictly advised that the willed money be urgently moved into an Overseas Account of trusted Foreign family friend without delay, for security reasons. The Government had earlier placed foreign travel embargo on all our family members and seizes all known local and international outfits of Business Empire. The situation has been so terrible that we are virtually living on the assistance of well wishes.
In view of this plight therefore, I expect you to be trustworthy and kind enough to respond to this call (S.O.S) to save my children and me from a hopeless future.
I hereby agree to compensate your sincere and candid effort in this regard with 20% of the fund when finally received in your local bank account.
The Attorney have perfected arrangement for complete dislodgment of this money within a week of the receipt of your response through email. They have equally guaranteed 100% risk-free and smooth transfer. Please, all contacts must be made through my lawyer barobong chambers via this E-mail address:[email protected]
Therefore, contact the lawyer as soon as you receive this message for more information.( 5% FOR EXPENSES DURING THE TRANSACTION)
I look forward to your quick response. May God bless you.
Best regards,
Mrs Lydia Aku.Can you believe it?!

September 5, 2002 at 8:50 am #100863MerryOneMemberFor as long there is the internet, i feel that those scams shall run riot and cause havoc in peoples inboxes. But maybe with less response to them, they may well get the hint and give up.Or the worst extreme, it may convince them to try harder.

September 21, 2002 at 6:10 am #100854melneeMemberThere will always be people falling for such scams. If not, these people would not still be doing it. I used to work for a bank here, and it was a daily thing for someone to call, and cuss us out cause of some huge charge to their acct, and when I looked it up, and ask the question,, did you give your bank acct # to someone over the phone, they stammer and say well, yes, but I told them i change my mind, dont use it. People just dont learn, and they are always looking for easy money, easy fat loss, or something free.
I dont get the ones like you all have talked about. Dont reckon I am important, huh??We never lose the ones we love, we lose the person, but love never dies. 🙂
