excuses for stealing dead aim i dont have one, if i did it was because putting ur credit card number on the net is dangerous and risky. If j.dennis put it out through snail mail or some other way i would be more than gladly pay for it. I feel really bad for stealing it, that is a strong word i didnt want to but i love the new features and i guess i’m kinda greedy. and for the topic on hand i really hate the idea of AOL buying out (yes thats what they, i’m sure of it) DeadAIM, i’m sorry to see such a great add on to AIM get bought out to such a awful company. i do not like AOL and to take something soo great like DeadAIM and destory it ( you know thats what they’re gonna do) does bother me alot. *sighs* but ya know something else will come out something always does 😉

Depending on what this means it might be VERY BAD…
Yes AIM 5.2+ MAY come with a lot of DeadAIM features, but what about the Ads? You think AOHELL will have them removed? No Way!
I’m an honest one that bought DeadAIMv4 by the way…

People used to use legal issues for an excuse to get Deadaim 4.0 free. Saying Aol doesnt approve of it, or that it wasnt legal to remove ads from aim so it was illegal uEöhey should be able to get it for free.
Is it legal to steal stolen property from a thief?
That argument was lame from the beginning. JDennis created an add-on. He sold it. It may or not have violated the AIM TOS, but that’s for the lawyers to figure out. The bottom-line is that if you use commercial software, you should get a legal copy.
Or, you can be cheap, like me, and use the old version because: A) It is free. B) There are few features I would use in the new one. C) It just isn’t worth it. I’ve lived up until now without it haven’t I?
What do you know….Aol is shutting down Jims website http://www.jdennis.net. I for one am not surprised. But i think that Jim should keep the site and his forums so it shows that he succesfully got into work with AOL. Thats a big accomplishment and he deserves to be recognized for it.

As you all should know, we used to have DeadAIM posted on this site for download before jDennis.net (DeadAIM’s creators) contacted us and informed us that it was illegal to have it on our site. Shortly thereafter, we were sent a file called ‘MyShAIM’ which fulfilled the same functions as DeadAIM. We were then told by the good people at jDennis.net that this file was a reverse-engineered DeadAIM, so we removed it as well to avoid legal action.We’ve been waiting around for awhile to see if any new (free) programs would come out that allow tabbed chatting and logging, &c. Well, apparently AOL’s official AIM client is going to have these features very soon! What follows is a partial transcript sent to me in in e-mail from Lauren Fisher at AOL:

End of Quote:hate to say i told u so… BUT i told u so.. aim addons are pretty much only for aol and anything not by them is illegal pretty much…. SO that brings me to my ollld topic about how having a bootleg version of deadaim is well.. not as bad because the creators of deadaim are doing somethin bad to begin with. (hey i wonder wuts gonna happen to aimutation i mean its gotta be the next to go right…?)

The jdennis.net site may go away not the DeadAIM program. If AOL wanted to get rid of DeadAIM then there would be no “working with its publisher”.
I never said that the application was going. Its merging with aim. I simply said they were shutting down http://www.jdennis.net
My bad… from the replies seemed like there was some confusion as to what may or may not happen.
Of course with AOL you never know, even after it happens…
yea ad removal is as good as dead… guess its up to aimutation or somethin new, maybe aim+ or whatever that program wuz called
