Here’s a poster of the upcoming movie with Johnny Depp in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Man I can’t wait for this. I love johnny Depp, he’s such an awesome actor (Jack Sparrow *drools*). Being directed by Tim Buton (bettlejuice, edward scissorhands, plant of the apes) its gonna be so awesome, I can’t wait till july 2005 now.
November 12, 2004 at 2:48 am #104419Jeff HesterKeymasterThis looks really cool. Johnny Depp is a cool actor. I want to see that Finding Neverland movie that he’s also in. I’m not sure when that’s out.
November 12, 2004 at 3:13 am #104436camsterMemberyou can tell this isn’t your old gene wilder movie. This ones supposed to be just like the book, unlike the old one. Supposed to be scarier too. Can’t wait for a trailer!
November 12, 2004 at 3:29 am #104433Hurricane22491MemberI wonder how good it will be. I’ll probably go watch it.

remember, this is not a remake of the old film. This is a remake of the Rohld Daul (probablly spelled wrong) book. The old film is very different from the book. The book is much darker, and focuses more on the boy (Charlie). The people who made the Gene Wilder movie did not make it very accurately, although it still turned out to be a classic. Just because you were a fan of the movie, does not mean you’ll like this one. It will be very different.
November 12, 2004 at 10:55 pm #104426RabidKittenParticipantThat’s the truth…of course…there are lots of movies that weren’t made very accurately with the book in mind. Just look at Queen of the Damned (An attrocity and a half! Interview *thumbs up* though) Red Dragon, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory…so many many books turned into movies that people loved, only because they had no idea how horrid it did the book justice. *shrug* Ah well, ignorance is bliss…except for Queen of the Damned, I simply CANNOT forgive that trespass. *cringe, shakes her fist in anger*
But yeah, it should be a good movie, spooky and such. Johnny usually does a really great job. I’ve loved him ever since the first time I saw Edward Scissorhands, and been a fan ever since. Of course, didn’t make it any easier for me when all the Pirate fangirls came out and crap…I was like “Where were you guys 5 years ago!?!?” Ugh. Oh well, it’ll eventually go back to normal. Secret Window, Edward Scissorhands, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, PotC, (Pre production right now for PotC 2), From Hell, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Donnie darko, The 9th Gate…gosh so many really great movies he’s been in. I’m convinced he can play just about anything. And by the way, anyone notice that in Scream (the first) that Skeet Ulrich looks a lot like him? It’s insane….
In closing, damn you Queen of the Damned!

and what knowledge do you base that on? You have to see the trailer before you can say that
November 13, 2004 at 12:56 am #104441gossipingraeMemberhey rabid, you know johnny depp was in a few of the nightmare on elm street movies? I have the box set of the freddy krueger movies and he was like 15 or so in them…it’s insane! he’s much better looking now though.
November 13, 2004 at 1:52 am #104435QuiksilverMemberI might have to go see that. Just for the fun of it! I saw the grudge the other day and oh boy it messed with my brain…didn’t really understand it (especially why dead people crawl down stairs) well anyway…yeah. Johhny Depp is cool. That’s a fact if you guys don’t mind :)! Looks like 2004-2005 will have another bash of good movies. Oh the joy 🙂 now I have good reasons not to stay home…
As for the whole movie-book book-movie issue…bleh. I hate, hate, HATE it when they turn a really good book into a movie and leave the most important parts of the book out. Makes me go “wha?” and other things like that. Examples would be LOTR and Harry Potter. Talking about Harry Potter this german guy made a book called “Barry Trotter” and it makes fun of Harry Potter pretty bad…in the book Harry is married to Hermione and is apparently sex crazed. Pretty funnyy if you ask me, but don’t jump on me if you “loooooove” Harry Potter so much that you gotta kill someone who says something bad about it….or makes fun of it.
Well…I went a little off-topic there didn’t I? Oops. Well whatever.

…which to me….will freak me out knowing that it’s closer to the book….I’m scarred for life by the Umpa Loompas 😮 as well as that freaky scene where they go into the tunnel.November 13, 2004 at 11:02 pm #104430ys8er2323MemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by camsterQuote:quote:Originally posted by ys8er2323I have more pics, and the trailer is out in the movie Polar Express. November 14, 2004 at 12:26 am #104427RabidKittenParticipantI have to say what I’ve seen of the polar express looks horrid, but the technology used to make it was spectacular. Tom Hanks was actually acting for the film, not just a voice. Hundreds of little censors all ove rhis body picked up every movement and facial expression to make the movie’s characters all the more lifelike, and the little kid in it is just a graphically engineered smaller version of tom. So really, the process involved sounds fasinating…jut the movie sounds like crap, that’s all. Or maybe I’m just burnt out on Christmas Cheesy Train Movies.
