Me and a few friends (Crazy penguin was not in this arguement, so you can breathe a sigh of relief. It’s not too insane) had an arguement about whether the Mega Drive or SNES was the better console in the 16bit era.(These strange arguements seem to start when we try to do work… maybe its a defense system against college work???)
I want to know what the opinions of BBB members are so I created this poll. (Yes, we do take arguements quite seriously ;))
In my opinion, the mega drive was far superior. It has gaming classics such as Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Revenge of Shinobi and, most importantly, Sonic. The sonic games were so popular they were re-released on Saturn and Gamecube. It was also the first console to have Internet connection, 3D analogue pad, Cd attachment, 32bit expansion and backwards compatibility.
Plus I dont like mario games. But now I want your opinions, So… Mega Drive or SNES??
April 29, 2004 at 5:37 pm #80416Crazy PenguinMemberhmmm, it seems your consolen obssesion has transferred to the forums Red Devil….
I’m really not qualified to hold an opinion about these two consoles as my experience with them is extremely limited…… but when has this ever stopped me chipping in an opinion. 🙂
So I think that it has to be the Mega Drive, because, well because its the only one of the two that i’ve actaully heard of before, and sonic is cool, (even though I never got past level 1 on sonic 1, I acknowledge that sonic is the coolest hedgehog in existence :D).
April 29, 2004 at 7:15 pm #80411DoSMemberIMO SNES was way better than sega mega drive. besides sega was never ahead of nintendo in all the game consoles they released.
yeah when I was a kid I am had almost all the consoles released and keeping it up 🙂April 29, 2004 at 8:34 pm #80402DangerBoyMemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by Crazy PenguinSo I think that it has to be the Mega Drive, because, well because its the only one of the two that i’ve actaully heard of before
You’ve never heard of Super Nintendo?
SNES was better. Nintendo always kicked Sega’s ass back then.

The Mega Drive was so much better than the SNES. Sonic kicked Mario’s ass.
This should have been your quote:Quote:quote:you’ve never heard of Super Nintendo?

April 29, 2004 at 9:54 pm #80415Crazy PenguinMemberOhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the SNES is the Super Nintendo!! 😮
Well i’ve heard of that!
Personally I always thought Mario was silly, some italian bloke with a moustache? how can that be fun, its just plain ordinary?
Sonic on the other hand is an abnormal hedgehog… so how can that not be fun!
April 29, 2004 at 10:07 pm #80408Red DevilMemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by Crazy PenguinSonic!!! Because sonic has other characters in it thats not the same guy but green! (luigi what a lack of imagination). And the charcters in the sonic games have different abilities while mario and luigi have… Jump and run.
(I really dont like mario games. They’re too boring and slow)Me beginning to think this poll should’ve been Sonic or mario instead?;)

Even though I have a SNES (which at the time I thought was better) I now think the Mega Drive is better so Mega Drive gets my vote

Ok true they could get different abilities but sonic characters have unique abilites straight away, meaning you can replay the game using different routes that only certain characters can access.
At least you voted for mega drive though…:p
May 1, 2004 at 10:08 pm #80421Penguin HunterMemberThat because I have a Mega Drive Emulater on my comp and have become addicted (again) to Streets of Rage, Golden Axe and all the Sonic game. If I had a SNES emulater and got addicted to that I would have voted SNES
May 3, 2004 at 10:13 pm #80406Red DevilMemberheh heh Streets of Rage and golden axe are possibly the best games ever… Mainly because if you get bored, then you start attacking player 2 with a metal bar… which usually starts a fight in real life…;)
May 3, 2004 at 10:19 pm #80420Penguin HunterMemberYes it does, I loath you, we were doing well until you did that. Just because I threw a knife at you give you no right to hit me with a metal bar :mad:GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR:(
May 3, 2004 at 10:33 pm #80401Dr KimbleParticipantSega Genesis has to be good if I permanantly damaged my left thumb from playing so much, stupid direction pad >(
Although, it does go along well with all my other double joints 😛NES was better for One Players, and Sega rocked the two player house…I am more of a two player kind of person, beating a live person is much more satisfying than beating an inanimate CPU 😉
May 4, 2004 at 9:39 pm #80414Crazy PenguinMemberIndeed beating a live person is much more satisfying than beating an inanimate person, physically as well as virtually.
Though beaing a CPU physically can be satisfying occasionally.

As well as streets of Rage and Golden axe, there was the sonic series, World cup italia 90, Street Fighter 2, ultimate mortal kombat 3, virtua fighter 2, NBA Live, NBA JAM and many more brilliant 2 player games…
But I cant play them atm cos my Mega Drive just broke… 🙁
