If they aren’t eager to help you, I would take my business elsewhere in the future. Or since you have your desktop, you could ask them to give your laptop a checkup, as you can’t seem to uninstall and reinstall the graphics drivers. I mean, come on, this should be a part of the warranty service 😮 !
Extra things to try: download Process Explorer here. Run it, and see which applications have a high CPU usage. Please post back here to let me know. Thanks.
Download Crap Cleaner here Install it and make sure to get rid of all unnecessary junk files in your system. Visit Crap Cleaner’s website for more useful info.
Have you done a defrag lately? I use O & O Defrag Pro 8.6 which is very fast. Tip: when you’re defragging, disable your antivirus program.

MemberHey Philip 🙂
I’m sorry I haven’t responded earlier, but I’m studying for exam right now, and I’m not quite sure when I will have time to try the suggested things…maybe in week 14, but I can’t promise anything!
But I just wanted to give you a heads up as to why I hadn’t responded…
Talk to you later, mate

Memberi tried ti install and use tht reduce mem thing however it dont work. it says a script of live messanger must already be running……but obviously when i try to run the live messanger it buggers up my comp making it unusable and nothing will load. its a vicous cycle

Memberalso i have tried disconnecting the internet and the problem still occurs so its not to do with internet connection. when i tried running it earlier it said something along the lines of scripts have been disabled and u can enable them in the options menu. but messanger never actually opens as usual just jams the computer before any windows even open

OK, could you give me a rundown of programs running in your computer, especially the ones that appear in your taskbar. I would also like info on the following:
- Firewall
- Antivirus and antispyware
- WLM version and any other add-ons, like Messenger Plus!
If you can sign on to Web Messenger without the high CPU usage problem, please get in touch with me through it; it’d be easier than waiting for a reply here. Alternatively, you could try a multi-IM client like Trillian to see whether that problem still occurs. I know it’s a band-aid solution, but like I said earlier, if you could kindly IM me, perhaps we can find the solution faster. I’m also available on Yahoo! Messenger, if you prefer.
I look forward to hearing from you.

January 14, 2008 at 12:55 am #157681rjmyth
Memberyes a few times. it did nothing but i dont have the problem anymore, it just means i have an extra program running which takes up some resources but nothing major. its the tray icon for nvidia settings.

ModeratorWow, what an unusual solution, rj. Still, as long as that main problem’s sorted out…:)
