My login is set to remember me, however whenever I visit ../forums from an external site, I never appear to be logged in. The gist of it is, I’m logged in (as I should be) if I visit any other BBB page.
I’ve cleared my cookies and re-logged in, but the problem still persists. This started a few days ago with an upgrade of Firefox, however the problem is only here on BBB. Any ideas?
Firefox/1.5.0.1

Also check that in exceptions BigBlueBall isn’t there and in the Keep Cookies part, try setting it to keep cookies until you close FireFox. Close and open FireFox, and try again and see if you still get the same problem. I hope this works for you.
April 2, 2006 at 5:40 am #141533AnnaParticipantMy cookie settings are a-ok, however cookies expiring upon closing the browser isn’t what I want. Either way, it’s still not working.
My cookies for other sites are all working properly.

For me too, it’s not so much a huge problem, but it’s inconvenient when I want to go straight to the New Posts, that I have to load 2 other pages before it before I’m “acknowledged” as logged in.

Which is exactly what I’ve been saying for awhile now. Glad I’m not exactly alone here (I was beginning to think I was the only one having this obscure problem). 🙂April 6, 2006 at 1:19 pm #141530Jeff HesterKeymasterFunny I just recently started visiting a forum and it has a remember me option and when I visit I again have to log in. Now I know what a pain that can be…*bites the heck out of a pillow*
I tried searching FireFox forums, and the problem is mentioned, but I couldn’t find any solution to it at all. In the end I just put password manager to remember the password for that site so all I’ll have to do is click the login button. Better than nothing I suppose. *Shrugs*

Have a nice day 🙂
April 6, 2006 at 11:59 pm #141531Jeff HesterKeymasterI have not been able to replicate this problem in either Internet Explorer, Firefox or Flock. I feel your pain though (no… really!) and want to make this problem disappear like snowflake on a summer day.
We need clues! Anybody have one?
April 7, 2006 at 12:23 am #141547FancyMemberSince I have had this problem too…I have started looking suspiciously at everything new that’s happening on my computer. I’m ready to suspect that increased security features on my current firewall and updates to Norton anti virus, and Zone alarm could even be what’s causing some problems. Just weeks ago the problem didn’t affect me then suddenly it began. I think that has to point to something changing on my computer. I’ve also gone to other computers at work/school and logged in with no problem using IE (which I cannot do at home if I want to stay logged in) Good luck troubleshooting this one Jeff. Maybe we can all share what kind of protection we are using and find some common ground to the problem?
April 7, 2006 at 4:08 am #141540SpikeMemberIt’s so odd, really…The settings between my laptop and my desktop are identical (except for XP Home and Pro) (things like no AntiVirus, no Spyware, Maxthon browser (shame nater, no browser wars *glares*)) and my laptop doesn’t have this problem, so I don’t have a clue as to what might be causing it.
April 11, 2006 at 11:44 pm #141535AnnaParticipant… And as suddenly as it came, it’s seemed to have solved itself with a history, cache and cookie clear just as quickly.
Strange though, because I’ve cleared my browser cache before, yet the problem still persisted then…
April 12, 2006 at 1:03 am #141541SpikeMemberB…but…I don’t want to clear my internet settings! I’ve got preferences, man, preferences!!! Ohhh, and all the Temporary Internet files I’ve racked up over the months, come on…
I’ll get around to trying that sometime in the future and let you know if it works or not.
April 16, 2006 at 3:32 am #141542SpikeMemberYeah, um. Okay, it took me like 5 minutes to clear all that stuff out (which I still wanted *hmph*), and it still didn’t work. Any other ideas?
April 16, 2006 at 3:56 am #141549williamleeMemberI came across a temp file / cookie cleaner that work really well and dumps folders sometimes people don’t even realize they have. I have been using it for over a year and never had the first problem with it. its a freeware dowload and with one click it cleans out all temp files and cookies.
