Memberso what’s the solution? and who the hell came up with this dumb idea? They aught to be fired.
Aol was stupid enough to add this “feature” just before christmass. I acidentally left IM on at work before going home to the east coast for christmass. there are many people I keep in touch with solely through IM. I’d send people messages, they’d be idle and I’d log off. when I got back to work two weeks later I had messages saying “hey, back now, glad I caught you, here’s my number:…..”
pissed me off. I really wanted to see some of those people.
there should at least be someway to turn this thing off. is there a way? or any plan to add a way?January 7, 2004 at 1:24 am #88201Grim Reaper
Memberthe solution is make sure you sign off at work.

MemberSometimes AIM will disconnect and reconnect extremely quickly – within milliseconds – you nor anyone else will see you actually sign off, but because you’ve signed on again so quickly, the servers think you are signed on in 2 places.

MemberHello guys I’m new here. I also get this stupid message and I’ve heard that the reason is because the AIM server is too slow to catch up to who has just signed off and when you sign back on it thinks you are signed on twice but anyway I have made a petition for the AIM developers to get rid of the stupid message or at least improve it and I’d like you guys to sign it. It will only take about 1 minute to put your signature on it and you can do that here:
http://www.petitiononline.com/jm1984/petition.html
I would think they would have fixed it by now if they really wanted to because it has been about 3 versions ago when this started so this petition may help. Thanks to anyone who invests their time into it.

MemberAIM needs to have an option to turn off that 2 locations thing off along with the side picture taht appears when someone has an aim expression, and that stupid aim today window that appears when u open up AIM.

MemberYeah, is it just me or did they remove the option to get rid of the AIM Today window on startup option. Luckily mine was set to disable before I updated my existing AIM.
I honestly thought v5.2.3292 was good but it went downhill from there for some reason.

MemberYes, I’ve noticed that in newer versions of AIM, you can’t get rid of the AIM today splash screen. Which is why I reverted to an old beta version, and plan to stay with that one.

Memberkorruptmind, this feature can often times come in handy. If you are not signing your screen name on in two places yourself, then someone else could very well be doing so. If I was getting these messages without signing on at two locations, I would change my password. Just a suggestions.

ParticipantThey removed the option for the today window. You can still turn it off, but you have to edit the registry.

Double click on ‘ShowAimTodayWindow’ and set its value to 0 and say goodbye to the today window; however, you must do this on every user.

Memberi dont think its a bug, u’ve probably got Blue Death on your machine… it doesn’t matter how many times you change your password or SN bluedeath knows, and tells whoever infected you… there isn’t a way to get rid of it unless you want the uninstaller… IM or e-mail me for it, u could be on in another location (ie work and home) but if u dont knwo why chances are you got blue deathed (itz an AIM trojan)
good luck

Memberso has anybody figured out how to close out of and log off of ALL instances of aim?
February 29, 2004 at 7:51 pm #88204Fimus
MemberThere should be a kill option in AIM. Like NickServ does in some IRC servers.
