Thanks,
lambechoppei had that same problem too at first…what sometimes happens is that your sn might disconnect and then reconnect immediately, and due to this new feature, you dont visually see that…but the feature sees it and sends you that message…..but that if you are sure you have only signed on at one COMPUTER and you are the only one with your password…
August 28, 2004 at 8:32 am #88225rock15478Memberwell, while on this subject…is there any way to completely STOP receiving that message?? I sign on from multiple locations all the time and I hate recieving that message every time.
August 28, 2004 at 12:02 pm #88231PerpendicularMemberI doubt it’s a virus or bug :). It occurs when you don’t manually sign off of AIM.
If you shut down your computer or drop your connection without first manually disconnecting from AIM, it still registers that you’re signed on. So when you sign back on a bit later, it will count as your “second” session. That is when you are signed on “twice.”
It’s quirky, I’ve noticed, because sometimes it seems it will disconnect the “first” session on its own if I ignore the AOL System Msg.
It’s a dumb idea. I see how it can be effective for some people, but I for one would never utilize it. I never use AIM on more than one computer. It’s a pain and really should be optional. For me, the most annoying thing is that I get bombarded with these messages because I have 2 linked screennames. I get a seperate message for each one. Though, if you read the messages, you do have the option to remotely sign off the “first” session.
I’ve even blocked the AOL System message screenname to no avail in effort to disable it.

So I just created a new AIM ID, added a few buddies (under actual AIM software) including my old ID, then ended AIM and signed on with the new ID under Trillian.
My old AIM ID is offline but strangely, I now have the complete contact (buddy) list from my old ID under my new AIM ID. I proved this by sending a message and the new ID shows up as the sender. Why did that happen?
