FWIW, changeing a post after it has been quoted in another post simply makes you look dumber.
Not a smart move at all.rustedtight.

[email protected]April 27, 2002 at 1:53 pm #102343rustedtightMemberOK, Top 3…
1. any fast track app, Kazaa or Grokster.
2. iMesh
3. Limewire.
Why? cos there fast n can find all thats requested of them.Bottom of the list.
1. AudioGalaxy
2. Morpheus.
cos? too slow, unreliable, drop outs, limited.Theres some 40+ apps I’ve not used yet. so its not very subjective.
Those are my my personal picks, not a reccomendation, you can feel free to pick your own.rustedtight.
June 13, 2002 at 7:25 pm #102354roadrageous_chickMemberThanks for the info rusty 🙂
I had been using the Morpheus Preview Edition
and was very disappointed with it.
I am now using Grokster and am so much
happier with it. It’s so much faster and easier to use.June 13, 2002 at 11:42 pm #102351AnnaParticipantI used to use the Morpheus Preview Edition and just got so fed up with it’s reliability that I switched over to KaZaA.

June 18, 2002 at 11:58 am #102342rustedtightMemberOn behalf of many leechers, why do you assume I/we are leeching copyrighted material? Where was that mentioned previously?

June 21, 2002 at 4:31 pm #102349catslastdanceMemberIt was an assumption based upon the myriad of copywritten songs on playlists listed in another thread regarding playlists. Lets not be naive though, even unsigned bands copywrite their own material. So odds are even if you are not downloading a song that is on a major label you still are downloading something with a copywrite. Be honest, everyone on this board , well most anyone period including myself have downloaded a copywritten song. And I am not against downloading mp3’s as long as people still buy cd’s of music they like. MP3’s are a great way to shop a band before purchase. That is why I made the comment I hope people are still buying music.
I am curious why the most likely accurate assumption that you have downloaded copywritten material angers you? Obviously with a list of 19 Peer to Peer clients you are active in mp3 sharing. Like I said … as long as it is not all take take take and people still buy the music they love …. it is a great promotional tool.

June 21, 2002 at 6:19 pm #102335Jeff HesterKeymasterJust because a playlist contains copywritten material, you can’t assume that it was illegally gained.
I’ve ripped most of my favorite audio CDs to MP3, mainly because I spend so much time in front of a computer and I can play them very easily. I own every Genesis CD from the ’60s and ’70s, and yet I carry them arround on a single CD (in MP3 format). It’s a matter of convenience.
Yes, I have downloaded MP3s, too. And yes, those downloads sometimes result in the purchase of a CD. Radiohead, U2, King Crimson are just a few purchases that I previewed via MP3 first.
With CD costs as high as they are, I won’t buy a CD without knowing what I’m getting. I don’t have the time and patience for MTV (doe they actually play music videos anymore?), and the radio station playlists are usually bland.
.
So, I listen to Internet radio and sometimes download some music first. Need any?Jeff Hester aka “Mister BigBlueBall.com”
June 23, 2002 at 3:14 am #102348catslastdanceMemberInternet radio was dealt a serious blow by the RIAA … Live 365 now retroactively owes $2,000,000 and is expected to pay out over $200,000 per month in royalties. This is for all practical purposes killing most internet radio DJ’s ( I know MANY). The royalty rate imposed was 7 cents per 1000 listens …..
it is amusing to me though how many people who are pro P2P sharing refuse to acknowledge the copywrite infringement. Like I said … it is a genie out of the bottle … but I have seen the damage it IS causing th music industry first hand. And not just the MAJOR LABELS … it is hurting the independent artists as well because Labels are less likely to take any chances now due to the ever decreasing margins. CD’s are less expensive now that they were 10 years ago based on inflation. Yes media is expensive but not anymore so than it ever has been. Like I said … shop your music with mp3’s … buy what you like … but just don’t take unabated … if this does not apply to you and hasn’t struck a nerve .. dont worry about it … 🙂 … all I was doing was asking people to buy cd’s as well as download mp3 ….

I just don’t think we care! I buy the stuff i really care about, but not the dogs. And I don’t buy the argument that the recording industry is losing money… they’re making more than ever! And MP3s make it possible for me to hear bands I would never have heard otherwise, because they don’t get airplay.
