I sat up all night trying to figure out, but then finally gave up and a friend explained it to me. Do YOU know how many petals are around the rose? ๐
April 9, 2004 at 6:12 pm #81675shifterMemberHa, that was cool. Took me five rolls to figure it out. [:P]

While some students would solve the problem right away, others would struggle all semester. It had taken Dr. Duke well over a year himself, and he would always explain that the smarter you were, the longer it took to figure it out.I rolled at least 40 times, I don’t get it, there doesn’t seem to be a pattern.

Don’t think patterns, think PETALS around the ROSE, but first you have to find find the roses themselves. A friend told me there’s also a similar game but of polar bears and fishing holes or something.

Only 2 rolls after that hint.

April 9, 2004 at 7:58 pm #81667detn8rParticipantAhhh… I got it… (without Anna’s hints of course ;))
April 9, 2004 at 8:15 pm #81680Dr KimbleParticipantHey I got it! ๐

April 10, 2004 at 1:43 am #81674shifterMemberThis little puzzle requires a little creative thinking to solve it. Don’t think of it as a math problem. Look for the rose, then count the petals, it really is as simple as that. Use the right side of your brain for this one. ๐
I was counting the dice on each wrong answer to see which ones added up to the correct answer. It wasn’t until I got an answer that didn’t match up to any combination of numbers on the dice that I finally realized what I was doing wrong.
April 11, 2004 at 4:20 am #81679Dr KimbleParticipantTry drawing a picture lazyT…it worked for me ๐ I tried claculations for close to 30 rolls then I decided to draw and BAM I got it in about three rolls.
April 11, 2004 at 5:33 am #81676lazyturboMemberHaha, I figured it out. Got one of my friends to tell me the answer. Its kinda like half visual, half math problem. I dunno, something’s wrong with the right side of my brain. ๐ฎ
