Actually I think his comment has at least some merit.
I know I myself was trying to add/subtract/divide etc to get the right answer, but wasn’t able to come up with anything. Usually (but definitely not always), the ‘smarter people’ take things mathematically, and thought in terms of numbers instead of pictures.
April 11, 2004 at 10:38 pm #81681Red DevilMemberTook me three rolls to get it. At first, I had no idea what it was talking about (Rose???? they’re dice dammit!!!) but if you forget about the maths and concentrate on what it means by “Rose” and “Petals” then it becomes really simple.
April 11, 2004 at 11:06 pm #81686Penguin HunterMemberDavid is right, I just didn’t want to seem bigheaded and arrogant, which, as Red Devil and Crazy Penguin will tell you, I never am 😛
The logical people will think Literally useing logic, maths and science to work it out. While the more creative people will think Laterally using their imaginations.
April 12, 2004 at 1:29 am #81683colinMemberI dont get it! Everyone’s saying the “smarter” people take longer, and the more creative will get it sooner, but the funny thing is that I’m pretty smart (I’m saying that with total modesty of course:D) and I’m in a class for smart/creative people, and I still dont get it. I will eventually though.

I still don’t know how valid that ‘smarter’ vs. ‘creative’ idea is. I mean, I’m a decent programmer, and to be a programmer you have to have the problem-solving/creative mind state to work through a problem and find a solution. It’ll just be different for everyone.
This is definitely one of those things where after you get it it’s like ‘dang, that was simple!’.
April 12, 2004 at 1:52 am #81669CharlesMemberI couldn’t get it at all until I read the hint from Anna. I sat there for about 10 minutes just looking for a pattern and gave up then checked back here and got a hint.
April 12, 2004 at 2:29 am #81682colinMemberI finally got it. Once I actually read the hint from Anna, it was very easy. I was wondering how to look at the dice, well I guess I can’t go into the details, because it will spoil it. Once I read the hint, I immediatley knew what to do. This thing’s really cool.

The “Creative” people use the Right side of their brain so think of more ‘creative’ ideas for how it works -
