MemberBLACK HAT, I wish to draw your attention to the following from the posting guidelines and ask you to modify your signature accordingly.
Quote:quote:Use Color and Fonts Sparingly
Resist the urge to get artistic, and use colors and fonts sparingly, usually to emphasize a small piece of text in your entire post. Do not change the color or font of your entire post or there’s a good chance a moderator will change it back. We’ve chose the default font and colors to make it easily readable for everyone; please respect those choices.August 9, 2003 at 5:54 pm #58603BLACK HAT
MemberOkay, I fixed my sig but there seem to be a ton of others that are way outside the guidelines. :p

MemberHello Everyone! It has been some weeks since I have visited and I must say that I am happy to see that some of you have been helping to report these sites.
Oddly enough, I was surfing for booter sites and saw my name pop up when this page appeared in the ranks.
Thanks to Shifter who ran with the ball initially and continues to help everyone that wishes to report these sites.
I have been very successful in removing a great many of these sites aand although I have endured death threats and DoS attacks on my site, I will continue to rid the web of as many of these sites as I can.
I really appreciate the support. I don’t get a whole lot of NICE e-mails or posts regarding my activities, I must say so it was refreshing to see the posts here.
If you are having trouble reporting a site and need some help, you are welcome to contact me at this e-mail address, traceroute@blackhatdesign.com
Thanks All! See ya around the web!

MemberMaybe I’m reading the law wrong here, but it seems to me that its saying that not only are the web sites that provide the programs illegal, but those who engage in booting are breaking the law as well. If so, I was wondering if other states have similiar laws and, if so, how to sic the cops on booters that happen to be in those states?
March 21, 2004 at 8:56 pm #58592shifter
ParticipantEmoticon Man – Its not that booting is breaking an actual arrest-able law per se, but booters do break Yahoo’s Term of Service Agreement that you agree to when creating any Yahoo account. This is what makes there actions illegal. However, that said, Yahoo! is not about to go track these people down and take them to court, its a waste of time and resources. Booters will be around until there are no more exploits. You can always report these people to Yahoo!, but little or nothing is ever done. What Black Hat has offered up here is a not a permanent solution, but a step in the right direction. Web hosts will not risk getting into any legal troubles, so if something illegal is being hosted on there servers, they will take it down and suspend the account if you point it out to them. The more people who report these offenders, the less available these boot programs are. Thats all we can do, for now.

MemberOh, well, maybe it’s just a pipe dream… but it would be nice to think that, even if they weren’t arrested or incarcerated, perhaps a few fines and/or taking away their internet account might make them reconsider the error of their ways.:)
Also, unless I’m misreading the Texas law incorrectly, booters ARE actually breaking the law.

KeymasterWell I must say that was informative news , however, and I have noticed this with others that although the intent is worth of a 10 star.
Us poor ppl on the other side of the pacific seem to be left behind so for that I will post this :
http://www.acn.net.au/resources/guides/g7/s14.htm
which discusses I feel a more general coment as to disclaimers – I am not however supporting those site you mention. Those I have reported to “hosters” have failed to act, most are USA providers .
Is that cause we “down under” are considered 2nd class?? I wonder

Imagine that, they let someone else use the site for something more useful. Or did you post this because you thought the “Joplin Missouri Directory” was a Yahoo Exploit capable of taking down an entire chatroom with its History, Geography and Demographics? Cmon man, what the hell?

Memberok if you think you can bring down a site just by reporting them then you need some major help. Most of these sites that post booters and other programs are sites that have been paid for and its not the site owners responsibality if someone steals your name or boots you. If you get booted then log back on. If you get your name stolen then Make a new One its as simple as that. Ya BLACKHAT they wil email you and say the site is shutdown but there just telling you that to shut you up. If you belive everything a company says then theres no help out there for you. THe best thing for you to do Is if you know the person doing it then you report that person. But all that does for you is get that persons name blocked from yahoo. So what does that person do? They make another name and log back in…hmm that was hard…..90% of people that boot have hundreads of ids made. So good luck

MemberGreat, another genius who knows it all.
If you don’t have any useful comments, why don’t you keep your trap shut. I think BlackHat is doing something very worthwhile. Will it solve the booting problem? I doubt it. But it can’t hurt, can it? From what I’ve read here, it looks like the sites being reported have been shut-down. Yah, they might just go back up somewhere else, but we’ll just keep shuttin em down. So as soon as your thick head can comprehend this, feel free to apologize to BlackHat for you lamer attitude. [:P]

MemberYou know, considering that those sites can be put up somewhere else on the net, you may think that it’s rather pointless to try and shut them down. But, one thing that does happen, is that it slows those people down. They have to keep moving and some may even incur fees due to the content they host. Not to mention they lose the money that they put into the account, so it ends up costing them money. Plus, it slows down the ability for people to download those booters and other tools because they have to keep doing searches for sites. BLACKHAT, this is a worthy cause and I commend you for doing something that others were afraid to start, and so far, I’ve shut down 20 sites, and plan to have many many more shut down in the future. Keep up the good work BLACKHAT, we need more people like you.

MemberWell from the Looks of it Dangerboy, You are out just to poss people off with your replys Not help anyone. I however was just informing the blind people out there that belive everything everyone says that You will never stop the booting So you Might as well Stop crying. I happen To be on yahoo alot and deal with booters and other programs. I help all my friends from being booted and with all the experiance I have I am still booted. Its people like you with no brains casue there daddy breast fead them to long that make the internet fun for people like me. The sites ARE NOT SHUT DOWN. The only way the sites will ever be completly Shut down is when the goverment steps in and starts making it Illegal to Boot someone. But will that ever happen? Nope The goverment is to busy tryin to give them self another pay raise. Blackhat is doing something good by tryin to shut down sites. But Tryin and Shutting them down is 2 differnt things. You however are just there to respond with your sarcastic attitutude. Thanks for calling me a Genius who knows it all:D Casues I DO know a hell of alot more than you about it. I bet your on all the lamer list on the booter sites. People probly test there progs on you LOL
