MemberI wonder if anyone else has witnessed this problem. My friend is not receiving messages I send him. It seems to happen when I send him longer than usual offline messages. Is there a cap on the amount of text you can type in a message? I am still using the older version of messennger beccause I do not care for the newest version. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. This was never a problem before. This does not happen when we pm each other, only in offlines.

Participanton the rare occasions that you are offline but YM *thinks* you are ONLine, then it sends the msg “direct” to you , but of course you will never get it ! feel that in practice 99% of offline IMs DO get thru, but because many IM’s don’t require/deserve a reply, there are probably more than we think that fall into the abyss.

MemberMake sure everyone do a Sign-Out and then Exit the YM! software. Sometimes exiting, closing the YM! software before choosing Sign-out first or disconnect from the Internet before Sign-out will results in lost offline messages.

Membermost definately agree with SS. Make sure you exit a room, and close pms, then disconnect from messenger, and I even go to the yahoo front page, and sign out there as well.. If you don’t your stuck in limbo on the yahoo servers, and yahoo actually thinks you are still online and getting the pms.

MemberOk, this is rediculous. It happened again today. I messaged my friend, this morning, I made sure to sign out as usual. He never got any of them.

KeymasterI had understood yahoo was going to be removing the ability for the old Yahoo Messenger to connect. Perhaps that hasn’t taken place yet. Does your friend use the new Yahoo Messenger? Perhaps you can try upgrading (seeing how you will be forced to anyway) and see if the problem persists.

Did you make sure that he is the one who need to sign out and then exit? The person who is going to receive the message need to do that, not the one who sends them =)

MemberMiamiGuy, Some of the 4.? versions will no longer log in, however anything 5.4 and above still logs in, and can pm, and voice, cam, rooms, etc. etc. However recently (last week) yahoo took the support for any version under 6.0 off their support site.
Someone did mention something about NOT being able to use the CAM on the older versions anymore, but I can’t confirm that fact.

MemberI am having the same problem as of last night. I am not recieving any offline messages. I rebooted earlier and recieved one but they soon stopped becasue I was testing it out on another name I have. So, Im stumped as to why this is happening. Anyone? I am also getting a weird message once in awhile regarding “session expired” please sign on again or something like that.

MemberOK, I tried the sign out first method. It worked. BUT, I have never signed out before, just xed out and I always got offline messages and the people ive sent them to have gotten them as well. Is this a new thing? Or another once in awhile glitch?

If Yahoo! still thinks you are online, you won’t be able to receive offline messages. Yes this is a new problem; several years ago it was fine when you exit directly.

MemberI am also having the same problem, which began all of a sudden. I was asked the same question..why wasn’t I responding to my offline IMs. I not getting them. I uninstalled Yahoo Messager and reinstalled it. It didn’t help. Is there a fix to this? I can’t believe it can just “happen” and not have a fix. Please help

ParticipantAt the moment yahoo! are intermingling YMSG12 and like a hybrid YMSG13
This is gonna cause a few problems and the disconnects and weird banning of peoples id’s.
It’s just another bump on the yahoo road.
You will usually recieve the typing notification but not the pm…its a common problem the last 2 weeks.
If you have a active pm open and reply to it…their pm’s get to you fine.
Guess we’ll just have to see and wait till Yahoo! sort out their wrinkles and release a pre stable beta.
