MemberHow come every link I put into my AIM profile turns out to be purple? Even in my subprofile.. All the links are purple..

Participantprobably because links by default turn to purple once you’ve visited that site. im guessing that you’ve been to the sites you’re linking to, so your browser realizes you’ve been there and sets the color appropriately

MemberI would guess it is because you have already visited those sites today. To someone that hasn’t, they will be blue. This is normal. Go a day with out going to those sites and I am sure you will see them as blue, also. 😉

MemberAlso, when I go to subprofile.com and it gives me the HTML code to put in my profile, I change the color from #FF0000 to whatever color I feel like at the moment, and I copy and paste it in my profile, but the link still comes up as purple. Why is that?

Participant*shakes head*
two of us gave you the same answer… the link is purple because the browser recognizes that you’ve already been to that site. the code that you put in to make it some other color is probably the color for a link that hasnt been visited yet. just to check, i checked your subprofile, and the links show up as blue to me because i havent visited any of them. if you clear your internet history and temporary internet files, then they probably wont show up as purple to you.December 14, 2003 at 2:01 am #87317Skunks
MemberI did what you said and it didn’t seem to work.. But ok. Never mind then..

MemberAnd um.. I don’t want the link to be blue or purple. See, before I had my subprofile link lime green. And I tried to do it this time too, but it didn’t work. It’d stay green when I’d edit my profile, but then it’d turn to this light purple..

Participantcant you just go into Tools>Internet Options>Colors(in the general tab) and pick the colors you want for links and visited links?
December 14, 2003 at 7:13 am #87311Tigerblade
Participantwell you could do that, but it only changes the way you see it, not the way anyone else sees it

ParticipantHave you tried adding clink=”#XXXXXX” to the tag in your info.htm file? (XXXXXX would be the Hex code for the link color)
December 14, 2003 at 8:55 am #87314alana0601
Participanti thought they took out the info.htm thing with the newer versions or something.

ParticipantWow, your right. Looks as if you’ll need to revert to AIM 5.1 if you want different link colors.

Participantuh… no. i have 5.2.3292 and i still have full use of my info.htm file. i just edited it with my HTML editor, added that clink tag (i used red #ff0000), fired up aim, and BLAM there’s my red links. i’m not sure about 5.5, but 5.2 still has the info.htm file. on XP, its at C:documents and settingsyourusernameapplicationdataaimyourscreennameinfo.htm

Memberi can’t find C:documents and settingsyourusernameapplicationdataaimyourscreennameinfo.htm
when i get into C:documents and setting, the only folders in there are Administrator, All Users, and Owner. my username is timin and that’s not there. i checked in each of the three folders and there is no applicationdata folder in any of them…
any help would be awesome!
thanks in advance,
