Hi all,
It’s been a long time since I regularly contributed to BBB but I always remembered the warmth and friendly environment here at BBB :). There is no other community like BBB with that much courageous and helpful people. It’s nice to see BBBins in best of their spirits :D.Well, coming to my actual question. I’m searching for a good quality reliable web hosting service and possibly a cheap one. I want to host multiple sites running WordPress on a single account. I checked Godaddy’s Deluxe package, its superb but I don’t need that much space. They are offering 100 G.B web space. Their charges are 6.99$ per month.
Please suggest me some cheap service offering 5 G.B space with an option of running multiple sites on it.
Thanks in advance for your kind contribution to this thread 🙂February 18, 2007 at 1:50 pm #158399PolarBearNPRParticipantAqeel! Great to see you back! I can’t help with your question, but did want to let you know it was good to see your name under the new posts today.

Although, I was not contributing regularly but BBB was fresh and alive in my memories. Its an honor for me to be a member of this community 🙂

Lovely to see you around the place again. Nice to see old faces around here, now don’t be running off again or we will just have to tie you down! :p
Seriously though it is great to see you. Going back to your question well, ummm, I am not sure but I am sure you will get the advice you need 😉
February 18, 2007 at 5:01 pm #158387TigerbladeParticipantwell I know you wanted just a small amount of storage space, but I have to recommend Dreamhost.
If you go with their Level 1 service, it’s only US$7.95 per month if you sign up for a two-year service plan. If you decide you just want to pay by the month, it’s still only US$9.95. For that, you get a ridiculous amount of storage space, bandwidth, email addresses, you name it. And of course you can run WP on it, for a single user or for multiple users.
And, if you use my promotional code of
TIGERPROMOTIGER_BBB (original, isn’t it?), you’ll get a$25$35 discount off of your bill. (I’m not advertising… if you don’t want to use the code, no problem. just putting it out there)edit: updated for new promo code
February 18, 2007 at 6:32 pm #158395MrEggsaladParticipantI’ve heard good things about Dreamhost as well. I personally use Aplus.net and it’s pretty decent, however if I had to start fresh I would choose Dreamhost. They give you lots of pretty decent features, and from all I have heard they are pretty darn good.
February 19, 2007 at 9:10 am #158385detn8rParticipantI always thought Brinkster was pretty decent. They have a plan called “The Personal” for $4.95 per month with a domain name and they’ll waive the setup fee ($25) for a 24 month sign up. If you’re interested, I think it’s a pretty good deal. Check it out!

Thanks Sarah 🙂
No I’m not running off again as I’m afraid that you will tie me down 😛 and couldn’t let me go anywhere so its better to stay here.Tigerblade wrote:well I know you wanted just a small amount of storage space, but I have to recommend Dreamhost. If you go with their Level 1 service, it’s only US$7.95 per month if you sign up for a two-year service plan. Yes I want small storage space but I’ve already checked Dreamhost. They are linked at WordPress.org in hosting section. Thanks for your promotion code and its because of your promo that I’m rethinking about Dreamhost.

Well thanks a lot for your kind contribution but its not the end… as I haven’t yet decided. So keep contributing and help me in making this decisian
February 19, 2007 at 10:25 pm #158388TigerbladeParticipantupdate: I’ve updated my promo code for anyone interested in Dreamhost. The code is now TIGER_BBB, and I’ve upped the discount. With the exception of the very lowest offer (month-to-month on the Level 1 package), you’ll get a $35 discount off your bill, just for being a BBB member. If you do go with the month-to-month L1 package, you still get $25 off.
in the interest of full disclosure: yes, I do get kickback from your registration if you use my code, but the higher your discount the less I get, so the increased discount comes out of my pocket. I just like Dreamhost enough to recommend it and offer an incentive.
February 27, 2007 at 8:53 am #158398AqeelParticipantWell it seems I’m out of luck 🙁 DreamHost use Google Checkout for billing and Pakistan isn’t listed on Google Checkout. PayPal also don’t offer their services for Pakistan 🙁
Today I’m totally *confused*:o and *irritated*. 😡February 27, 2007 at 6:43 pm #158389TigerbladeParticipantThat’s odd… apparently things have changed since I last registered an account with them. They used to allow you to just enter a debit/credit card number instead of having to go through a checkout service like Google or PayPal.
March 10, 2007 at 2:11 am #158400johnalexwoodMemberHi – izimi – Self publish might be a solution for you. It’s FREE and it allows you to set your PC up as a personal web server. It’s totally focused on serving just files right now but the ability to host other things (such as sites) is in the development pipeline. izimi was launched just the other day on 5 March 07.
If you look at my previous posts on BBB, you will see some months ago, that izimi was an IM product. Well we developed that and proved to ourselves and the powers that be that we can do it. We’ve now brought out a web 2.0 product that allows you to publish files (any type, any size) onto the internet, with just a few mouse clicks, directly from your PC. The files are searchable via izimi – Self publish but the point is that you don’t have to upload them anywhere.
Soon, along with many other enhancememts, we will bring back IM to reinforce the social networking aspect of izimi, so watch this space!

izimi – Self publishMarch 11, 2007 at 7:26 pm #158392SpikeMemberJust a warning about the above post: Some ISPs do not encourage you to start hosting files from your home PC, soem even exclusively state that they do not want you doing so in your Terms of Service agreement. However, if you are positive that your ISP won’t care, a home solution can be okay. I do not recommend you host a website off of the same computer as the one you use on a day-to-day basis, either, though.
March 12, 2007 at 4:51 am #158391seb_thib_55MemberI currently use hostmonster. I pay 6.95/month.
You can pay with Pay Pal 🙂
