Dont bother removing spyware from kazaa, download and install Kazaalite.
Current version is 2.00
get it here… http://doa2.host.sk/
A smaller file, free of spyware so why mess with trying to remove parts of Kazaa?November 5, 2002 at 3:42 pm #68466melneeMemberThanks for the information and links you post here Rustedtight. I use Winmx. Its the only one I have used and I have heard and read alot of others recommend this or that, but I never know if I should trust the opinions I get. I have wanted to try a different one, because Winmx is very slow for me. I am going to try the Kazaa lite, because I trust your opinions, and information. Thanks again for all the help you give. 😀
December 12, 2002 at 5:00 pm #68474mattjp88Memberthere is a much easier way to remove adds from kazaa. you can just go to C:/windows/system/adware and delete all of the files in that folder. the only thing is that you will still have that grey area on the bottom area of the screen. but the popups are gone. i hope this helps

Dont bother following this bogus information.
Seriously folks, what purveyor of adware/scumware would knowingly place files in a folder called adware?
Yeah right, and look for virus in the C:windowssystemvirus folder.:D:DJanuary 17, 2003 at 2:20 pm #68464rustedtightMemberIs your spyware removals left solely to Ad-Aware? as of this date, it has not been updated for 4 months.
In internet terms this is a lifetime, too many current adware spyware apps have come onto the scene in that time, you are no longer protected.the last ‘free’ spyware remover? it may be this one, see http://security.kolla.de
March 7, 2003 at 3:06 am #68475gibbs36MemberThere is a cool .dll file you can download for KaZaa called KaZap that will turn the ads in the lower left hand corner into a utility program works perfectly if you follow the directions.
here’s the link http://members.lycos.co.uk/kazapdev
**note** if anyone can figure out how to get it to work in grokster let me know, i got it so it will remove the ads, but none of the utility options work.

Use it at your own risk.Quote:quote:**note** if anyone can figure out how to get it to work in grokster let me know, i got it so it will remove the ads, but none of the utility options work. Please direct requests related to untested beta software to the creator of it. Support/advise for beta software cannot be provided here.
April 21, 2003 at 7:19 pm #68478opee5230Memberok I was having trouble with KaZaA and rustedtight said spyware is to blame, so… I just download kazaa lite and nuke kazaa and its all better?
p.s. I’m not being sarcastic I’m just not very bright, please pardon.
April 25, 2003 at 3:54 am #68455rustedtightMemberSure, download but dont install before first removing all spyware/adware then remove all traces of Kazaa and or Grokster if it also was installed. Then, and only then should Kazaa Lite be installed.
1: download and run Adaware and/or Spybot.
2: remove previous installed kazaa.
3: install Kazaa Lite.July 14, 2003 at 7:47 am #68480flyinghighnowMemberI use spybot to remove all spyware and adware off my computer. It can befound at http://security.kolla.de/index.php?lang=en&page=about
I can’t use Kazaa or Kazaa lite it crashes my computer when I try to use it, Yes I know I have something wrong with my computer that needs fixed before I can use it again.
Hope everyone here knows there are 2 p2p programs that are almost alike with almost the same name Kaaza and Kazza, Kaaza is a paid one while Kazaa is a free one, don’t get them mixed up.
July 16, 2003 at 1:52 am #68481.ParticipantPersonally I would stay away from Kazaa or other P2Ps. I do know that here in the US even KazaA Lite and others are being monitered for illegal music, movies, and pirated software. You are not anonymous even with the removal of spyware but it helps only a little. Kazaa uses the spyware Cydoor and others while KazaA Lite is actually a hacked version of KazaA. In a sense its a spyware free program but its actually considered an illegal program itself. Go figure! Your best bet here in the US is to stay away from copyrighted music and movies especially if you are the one sharing them with others.

Its strongly suggest that you invest in a good virus scanner and have its resident scan running all the time to catch viruses while you download. I have Norton 2003 on resident at all times no matter what I’m doing and its saved me alot of headaches.
July 16, 2003 at 2:07 pm #68454rustedtightMemberQuote:quote:while KazaA Lite is actually a hacked version of KazaAActually Kazaa lite is not a hacked version at all, it IS essentially the kazaa app WITHOUT the additional adware etc.
If it were hacked then so too is Grokster and others, K++ etc., not so.July 16, 2003 at 5:21 pm #68482MissSexcBabeMemberdont get kazaa..its illegall and they can track down ur computer and find u and then u have to pay a $50.00 fine..trust me..i know

July 23, 2003 at 1:21 am #68479ChimmeraMemberHave any of you guys tried E-Mule or any of the other E-Donkey variants? Very fast transfers for me and very stable as well!
Takes a bit more in the way of configuring to work, but over-all I’m quite happy with E-mule.
Go here to check out the lastest version.
http://www.emule-project.net/Then go to http://www.sharereactor.com to find liks to all sorts of stuff to download!
Good luck! 😀
