MemberI tried this and installed the No Buddy, but when I click on the ICON, it just keeps reinstalling…not opening up the program… Can you help me with this?

MemberDelete it, then reinstall it If you do not have it saved on your computer, sometimes the server is down and have to try later. Also you need to install the jam also along with no buddy, that also might be why it just keeps installing. See if that helps. When you get the program installed, sometimes the program does not work right, just shut the program off reopen it and try again, it may take a few tries before it actually kicks your name off their list. Remember each time you try close the program out and reopen it. Don’t know why it works that way but it does.
Also set your privacy to only friends can see me as online, and to set your privacy down at the bottom do not allow others to see me on line and contact me. Also make sure your online status on your profile is turned off. If you have a webcam put it at only the following can view my webcam. Because if the stalker makes a new name and sees your cam on all they have to do is send you a request and sometimes we make mistakes and click yes thinking it is a friend. Also always start Yahoo messenger in invisable mode. Then if friends are on then you can send them a message first, instead of having everyone see you as on incase the stalker can see you as on.

MemberI have tried installing and running nobuddy as downloaded from http://www.zakie.fsnet.co.uk/nobuddy/
It installs ok but when I try to run it I get an error message saying
“Component ‘Mswinsck.ocx’ or one of it’s dependencies not correctly regisitered: a file is missing of invalid”
I have searched my HD and there is no file present called Mswinsck.ocx
I am logged into Yahoo Messenger and am also logged into http://my.yahoo.com/
I’m running WinXP
Any idea why it is not running for me?

Memberfirstly – DaB, JAM and Zakie’s no buddy are 3 seperate things.
no buddy – a small download – and you must have the VB ocx files etc (2.2mb download)
DaB – a larger download (does NOT require JAM to run)
JAM – a big download – but it is a Yahoo Messenger application (with a nobuddy / rejection) built in and a Yahoo chat client with Privacy and filters, customizable colour scheme, all the yahoo smilies (extendable), a yahoo messenger compatible emote file (extended), avatar/identitars, a HTTP server etc etcJanuary 6, 2004 at 2:05 pm #54469Trolling_Around
MemberOh yeah and I forgot to add, if you use DaB to remove your ID from someones list whilst they are OFFLINE then they do NOT get a rejection message, your ID is just ‘gone’ from their list when they next login 😉

MemberHi,
This may sound kind of silly, but is it safe for me to be typing in my username and password into these programs in order to delete myself from someones list? I am sure that the distributor of the program would easily be able to get my password, right? Thanks,
-Renee

It would be easy for somebody to write such a program to get others passwords, but if they did I’m sure they would a) soon get found out b) be in serious trouble, & c) word would quicky get around and others would know about it.
Having used both JAM and DaB and monitored what they do,I feel safe in saying they do nothing they shouldn’t, just be sure you download them from the ‘offical’ site rather then some L33t War3z 😉But, that said, for the time being, both JAM and DaB won’t be working – Yahoo have changed the login process again and blocked clients using YMSG for the time being.

Memberokay..umm after a few weeks after downloading “No Buddy”..It keeps coming up as an error saying my id name and password might be incorrect, when its correct! I’ve deleted it and installed it again, the same problem has occured!…Does it have some type of out of date thing??

And the talented folks who make the deny-a-buddy have to catch up with them. So be patient, try them, if JAM and Dab don’t work, give them some time. I KNOW how bad it is trying to remove yourself from someone else’s account. But the thing that you have to understand is that these are NOT official Yahoo! programs…so even though MOST of us would LOVE to have this feature…Yahoo! don’t believe they need to have deny-a-buddy as a feature. I for one commend the work that the people who create programs like JAM do. Without them, many of us would be using some other messenger. 🙂

Memberas an Update (and forgive the delay in replying but you have no idea how many ‘places’ i have to visit, whilst Id much rather be coding 😉 )
Dab stopped working during the serverrenames – its now working
JAM stopped working for a while – update was posted 12th JAN – now uses full implimentation of Atamus’ Yahoo Authentication (from GAIM) – sorry it took so long (what was it 5 days?) but I have to re-code these things from C (which I dont know) to Delphi. – NOW working – both will remove your ID from someone elses ID.JUst a as personal note:
Ive been working on JAMv5 – which is a total rewrite of JAM, its nicer, its better, its the all new JAM – (think windows95 vs windows3.11 😉 )

ParticipantAnybody know of a program that tells you what people have your user id on the buddylists? You know the people say im on your list and dont know who they are. the dab only hlps if you know their username. I need to find who all has mine. and pick which one I can remove

MemberA12le14. If you’re looking for some magical program that displays a list of everyone who has YOU on their friends list, there isn’t one. The best one I’ve seen is to change your status message to “MY CAM IS ON – COME AND VIEW ME”. Thought that was a clever way too see who pm’s you.
