Many times when I search Yahoo Member Directory, I get 0 Members returned. I perceive this to be a server glitch, so I just keep on trying until I eventually come up with something.
I read somewhere in another topic that in order to get into adult chat rooms you have to be 18 and have the US version of Yahoo Messenger. If your age on your profile is blank, then they will conclude that you’re probably a minor.
I think the requirement to login before you can view adult profiles is just Yahoo asking you to confirm your age. You have to be logged in to send messages anyway, so you’ll have to enter your user name and password somewhere inbetween searching for people and contacting them. Have you tried changing your cookies settings in IE or checking the box that says remember my info on this computer :confused:
I’ve never had this happen to me. Once I login and bring up a profile that happens to be an adult profile, it just asked me if I want to view it or not.
I’ve put online status indicators on a few of my web sites, and most of the time they didn’t work. I don’t know what causes this but I would like to know. Anyone have any ideas :confused:
I have had the same problem for weeks now and it doed not go away. ( 0 members found in advanced Member search) I contacted Yahoo help and they said it was a problem they were aware of. But still nothing has been done. It just started suddenly with no warning.
Also, at around the same time.. maybe a bit before.I suddenly found i could neither send nor receive web cam as Yahoo suddenly claimed I was behind a firewall. I made all the adjustments in settings that they suggested but no change. This has come in since MS Service pack 2 for XP.
Sometimes i can’t receive image files and get another “firewall” message.
I’m afraid that I think that Yahoo is in a mess but won’t tell anyone. I’ve tried re-installing and accessing via anoter computer but the same.
Now, I did hear one possible explanation. Sounds stupid but……….it seems that a rat chewed through an optic cable in, I think new Zealand somewhere at about the time these troubles started, and shut down virtually the whole of the network there temporarily. When you think that people like Yahoo use servers all over the worls, it makes you wonder if many of us were served by one on that network!
So, after all that.. does anyone have a real solution or know when Yahoo will sort themselves out?
Yahoo! Member search works fine for me.
I have seen people using firefox have problems but i use IE

Meh…it’s periodic. For a while it’ll be fine for me, another time it won’t be. Nothing I’ve been able to do about it so far.
I just posted a question to this message board. Got the reply that it was addressed elsewhere. Guy tells me to do a search before I post. Then I find that the topic I started was closed when I tried to reply to his remark.
I read this here thread before I posted. It is dated initially 2002 or something. Few years of nothing. Then one message a few days ago. Did this discussion thread offer a robust technical discussion or solution? Far from it.
Does anybody know of any message boards regarding yahoo messenger that are not moderated by some guy who runs the place like it was his little kingdom?

However, BigBlueBall appears much more organised when we have one thread covering one topic, as opposed to several small threads on one topic.
In your case, you’re much more likely to get help if you do post in an already existing thread which covers your topic. It’s also much easier to find and to refer back to if needs be. I was not attempting to boss you around or ‘run my little kingdom’, apologies if it seemed that way. I was merely trying to offer a new member advice on how to use the forum effectively.

I’m at the library writing now. Before I logged onto yahoo as my usual username I tried members.yahoo.com Worked perfectly.
On my PC at home for about two weeks now members.yahoo.com comes up with 0 searches found.

I tried it using Internet Explorer as opposed to Netscape the other day, and it did work. So you might what to try Internet Explorer, or if you’re already using it, try an alternative browser.
It is quite an odd problem though…
not only is the yahoo member directory down for 3 weeks, but you cant search from it on your Yahoo Profile at the top where it says search members by interests. When you type in an interest it just brings you back to your own yahoo profile.
They screwed everything up with the new look on the yahoo profiles, and they cant fix it for some reason after 3 weeks. The good old fun yahoo days are gone.

Well actually my best guess is they didnt change on how user information is stored just the actual appearance of the profile.
Secondly, Yahoo! has been talking of releasing *old* screen names for recycling purposes, perhaps they are shifting/weeding out these old unused ID’s.
I’m getting the impression I am not the only one experiencing this phenomenon. Using Explorer, BTW, doesn’t help one bit. Problem persists.
I’m wondering if it might not have something to do with Windows XP. Since it works in the library with old OS and in at a friends house on old PC.
I’m having the exact same problem when using the advanced member search. It returns 0 no matter what criteria I put in. It started about the same time yahoo updated the layout of profiles
