MemberI saw it last night in my status area. The only reason I saw it, was I have myself added as a buddy under another id and it showed up after I had been online for awhile. After I saw it, I Im’d a friend who was online to see if she saw it and she didn’t. It will be interesting to see if it shows up while I’m at work because we have a super firewall here. I sent Yahoo a message but I really don’t think they are going to reply, do they ever?!

MemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by RDOWhere are you seeing the strange status meesage? Is it on other people’s screen when you’re on their list, or are you seeing it at the bottom of your own Yahoo window where normally it would say “Available, Invisible, etc.”?
I have recently been told I was visible on other’s lists even though I show on my Yahoo window “Invisible”….may be related, may not be.RDO
In the cases I’ve seen so far, the message shows up just to the right of the person’s name on my friends’ list. Nothing unusual is displayed on the friend’s PC.

MemberIn response to where I have seen the status message showing up for my name:
I am always set to invisible first of all. At work I have two computers so that I can switch between platforms of my MAC and my PC. I use two different names on Yahoo Messenger so that I can have it on both platforms simultaneously. Both IDs are added to both Messengers just so that I can monitor my own ID.
When I logged out of Messenger on my PC for a minute and went back to the MAC, I noticed that it showed both ID’s as having “just logged in.” Coincidentally it also showed a status message beside the one I just logged out of that I can’t repeat here.
In order to fix it, I had to log out of the MAC Messenger ID and log back in and log back in on the PC as well and it returned my status to “invisible” for both ID’s. I thought this was just a glitch in my Messenger however a few minutes later, a friend IM’d me and asked me about the crazy status message I had just had up and whether or not I was still online.
This has happened a couple other times usually after having been online as “invisible” status and then logging out – it shows me as being “online/available.” Very weird and very annoying…
Sorry if this is confusing. I kind of have a unique setup here at work.

MemberThe point remains…Yahoo! is not doing anything about this. They have not responded, not have they acknowledged my writing them. There is either a problem on their end with the program… or there is a problem on their end with a program that leaves something open for people to hack. Two things are for sure…they NEED to fix it… and WE LOVE YOU YAHOO! ;):)

MemberRather than Yahoo! emailing 10% of the planet (they wish),
it would be ENTIRELY within reason if there was some sort ofhttp://www.Yahoo.com/ServerStatus.html
or such
(we can only pray)

You could be right. The last time I saw this problem occurring was 3 or 4 days ago.

MemberYou’ll have to let us know what you wore. I am currently online and visible…yet one of my friends does not see me hilighted on his list. I HAVE noticed that my firewall informs me A LOT about updater…perhaps the problems have to do with that?? I don’t know… but I am going wack-o trying to figure out this quirk of Yahoo!

KeymasterOne of the guys I work with used to work for Lotus, and unless they had complaints from at least 10 people about the same problem in one week, they pretty much ignored the reports. So it can pay to report bugs or problems, even if you think they already know about it.

MemberYeah, I’m locked out of my account for some odd reason. Wonder if it’s related to this.
