MemberHiya.
Does any one have the ACTUAL messages including the ones with the urls in them please? Have been DESPERATLY trying to obtain to give to my yahoo connections so they can FIX the error…i love infecting the engineers.
I know there are several about “view my webcam http://,,,,
if someone can sticky or mail some DETAILS to me…… so it can be fixed.
for now it appears to be a virus, much like aplore, social engineering. and hitting those also with auto install still activated…..
thanks in advanceMay 16, 2003 at 9:15 pm #96497moon_6851

I’m sorry I can’t be of more help.

MemberI have one of them at home and I’ll be there in about an hour and a half and I’ll send it to you. Where is the best place for me to ship it to? You really think its a virus?

Memberit has the identical characteristics of aplore….
the person infected/ affected doesnt see it…. it posts via messenger, noone recalls clicking a link…. or accepting a file……* usually* and it prompts to go to a site /link…… i did have one person say they clicked the link on friends status and it started a download…. she didnt recover link for me tho……
it is most likely a virus…. something that hits the custom status reg key……
it will be an easy fix if so…. but. the yahoo guys cant duplicate and noone.. * they swear!! NOONE! * has sent them the urls in a help report…..
im on messenger or email it.
thankies….. pass it on too.. send me the linkies with an explaination of what it is so i dont just ignore ya 😉 and ill pass it on…..
thankiesMay 16, 2003 at 10:58 pm #96505Oreo
MemberIf we include the URL’s here then people are going to click on them and if what you say is correct, the problem will get larger. Can’t Yahoo! do their own damn work?? And it happened to me and I don’t click URL’s from people I don’t know. So I think something is flawed here.

Memberi NEVER said post them here….
dont post them HERE….. i said email them to me. or message me……..
Yahoo cant fix a bug if users dont ACCURATELY report it and just whine about it on unaffiliated message boards…. i am trying to help stop attacking me….and if you READ my previous posts…..
i said….
“for now it appears to be a virus, much like aplore, social engineering. and hitting those also with auto install still activated….. “
if you still have auto install enabled, you dont have to click a link……..god where do i go to ignore a forum user….

MemberBy the way, you edited your post after I read it. I don’t think that’s very nice. If you want to ignore me don’t read my posts. The thing is there are too many people out there attacking regular users and a lot of them pose as “helpful” people. I never meant to attack you. The way that you had your post before made it look that you wanted links posted here. Thank you for editing it and making it much more clear

MemberCome on guys, don’t get testy with each other! We’re all in the same boat and frustrated at this point. I gave nhryvana the url so lets just see what happens now. To be quite honest, I didn’t give the url to Yahoo, I didn’t even use a yahoo id. Not giving them the url was a dumb move, but I didn’t give them my yahoo id because quite frankly I don’t trust them as far as I can see them. I can just imagine them locking me out of my account or something like that.

Memberthanks for link mariette.. passed it on. and someone else passed on another…
if some of the messages are pretty rude…… like Nobody likes you
You are a loser. Give up now. thats EPOCH_GHOST…..
but there are currently 149 identified yahoo viruses/ trojans/ worms etc.
they are digging… but if its like aplore.. will have many links.
sad thing is.. yahoo goes home for weekend in about……. 20 minutes 🙁May 17, 2003 at 12:54 am #96481Jeff Hester
KeymasterI just want to thank everyone participating here… Oreo, Nhyrvana, mariettelarkin and all of you. This kind of problem is a real pain to resolve, and I admire your persistence in the face of a frustrating situation. Power on!

MemberThanks Jeff, you’re a sweetie for saying that. But hey, one good thing has come out of this, we’ve all gotten to know each other better and there are some pretty nice people on this board. I for one, think Oreo must be a super nice person, she seems really sweet. And I’ve always known Snugs was nice too. And its nice to meet the rest of you. So, its not been all bad!

MemberNot to jinx it or anything, but everything has been fine with my ID for the past 3 days or so. That is definitely a big step up from before. Before, every single time I’d log out of Yahoo! Messenger, it would show people who had me on their buddy list that I had just logged in when I hadn’t. This was happening every single time, every single day for about the last week. So this is a nice update!

MemberThanks Jeff and Mariette, the two of you and snuggle and some of the others on here absolutely rock!! I agree with Mariette, I think this kind of problem brings out the best (and sometimes the worst… sorry I got a bit angry… but I felt like was being attacked myself!) I just hope this nasty business with status messages and being locked out will be solved… with a little help from our friends.

MemberAnyone got any new news to report? Anymore strange messages? Anyone hear from Nhyrvana?
May 20, 2003 at 2:32 am #96523litedatura
MemberOkay yeah, so I jinxed myself. I haven’t been able to get into my Yahoo! Messenger account at all over the weekend and still can’t! I get the “System at blahblah AM/PM : Your account has been locked for security reasons” message. I can’t get into it by signing into the Yahoo! page either. It’s been about 4 days now. ARG! So annoying.
