ParticipantI have reason to believe that there is a backdoor in it, I would not recommend downloading this.

MemberInf_gth- the author of the prog said specially for you:
Using oscar protocol program connects to aol severrs like any other aim or icq client, then as two aim clients can’t be online at a time therefor first connected will be automatically disconnected. To connect to aol servers program must have at last one port to listen server replyes, else program will show nothing. To full understand how works this program you should imagine that its an aim client which uses same protocol like aim client. If you will run your AIM client with another screenname and will add your checking screename to your contact list and when you connect my program you will see that your nickname goes online because it wants to get SRV_REPLY_INFO packet which has REGDATE of your account. thats it.
I may add that it is time for David to restore the link:

MemberInf_gth doesn’t fool me…
The program doesn’t need an extra port open for replies. All traffic for AIM is sent over port 5190 (default)…unless you open a direct connection which opens on a different port. Besides, I am behind a NAT, it worked, and it couldn’t listen for replies. Cut the crap. The link needs to go, why the hell would it act as a server on port 3000? NO IT DOES NOT DO THIS TO COMMUNICATE WITH AOL. Period. The only reason would be for a client to communicate with it. In the instance of AIM and AOL, it does not work this way, thus invalid.
Do I get a special message from Inf_gth too? 😀

No, the link does not go back until I have proof that this software is safe to use. I’ve used the OSCAR protocol before, I’ve created clones of the AIM client before. They transfer all data over port 5190. If it needs port 3000 to listen for the server to respond, then why did the program still work when I blocked access via my firewall? I don’t believe nor trust this Inf_gth person.

Memberwhat does a LOCAL port ( or it can be more ports for others aol services)?- opens aim client to listen server replies . 5190 IS REMOTE PORT. aim or icq opens there LOCAL PORTS TO LISTEN SERVER REPLIES. If you have any NORMAL and CLEVER questions welcome to icq 161161 (inf_gth’s uin), else we dont care about lame users and we dont want to explain how tcp/ip&oscar protocol works, if you’re afraid just don’t use it. Give a chance of others to use it, because it is unique.
inf_gth included aim regdate support just for test because aol doesn’t want to show them their regdates like icq inc.August 26, 2004 at 9:25 am #39237David

I understand somewhat advanced TCP/IP protocol. The AIM client makes an outgoing connection to the AOL server on port 5190. Your client also makes a connection on port 5190, but it also listens on port 3000. There is no need for this program to listen anywhere, AOL will not try to connect on port 3000, and the only other thing to connect is an outside attacker. I suppose the program could make a connection to itself, but the logic behind that is quite stupid and unnecessary.
You are attempting to make this sound more complex than it is. A connection to the AOL server is not that complicated.

MemberLOL, you connect and see your birthdate and disconnect right after that. 3 or 4 seconds. So the time for a “remote attacker” to attack you through port 3000 is 3 or 4 seconds, if your fears aren’t groundless? That ‘s simply MEGALOL
GroundlesssssssssInf_gth will have the pleasure to reply personally soon.

MemberHey… when ever some one wants to say something bad about inf or about any other my friend talk to me first… I will give a head for him… he is not a guy who just send trojan or backdoor to u…he is much Higher then this…
good coders are like oxygen in space spacialy in ICQ area.
so say no **** about him.
his progs are awesome and always works as they should be.August 26, 2004 at 10:23 am #39249WilliamWallace
MemberWe can inarguably understand your worries at first look, but his program has been checked in best icq forums as mirabiliz and icqz ; believe me I have much to care about my hd in 😉
In mathematics , if you cannot prove a thesis is wrong, you ARE to accept it right , I hope Americans are good @math -ops are they? 😉

MemberI’m writing this for my friend support
David and the rest, guys, you dont understand nothing about networking and all related about messaging, beleive me. I respect you all but it seems you’re trying to talk about things that you dont understand.
Now, lecture about how does your computer work with other servers, i’ll take real life example to finally explain how it works.
Lets imagine that girl is aol server and boy is client(your aim messenger or regdate program),
so boy(client) tells by his mouth to girl(server) “HELLO MY DEAR”,
girl(server) can listen him by ears(port 5190),
ok she heard him because girl(server) has open ears(port 5190 on server(girl)),
and she(girl, server) replies him by her mouth “HI SWEETY DAVID”,
boy has to have his own ears(his local port) to listen her right? if he won’t has it the client(boy) will not hear what she talking about.
so if this one clear let me tell you about some technical details.
All new and old technical discoveries have logic which was taken from the real life else if there is no logic then there is no any point to make it.
and that example about girl and boy shows it by simple but to understand.
Now first of all to connect to aol server your aim clinet sends hello packet to one of aol authentication servers to his remote port 5190, then if your password is good server replies to your aim local port that its ok to enter our aol network and gives to you unique cookie and another server address with same port which will work with your aim client all the time until you disconnect. So, aim understands it and sends second hello packet to server and port what was received by first time. If your cookie is good then you are ONLINE and at this time server begins to send packets to your local port with different info of you including your server side contact list and etc. If your local ports will be closed then you could only send hello packets but you will never hear what server says to you because you dont have ears or you closed it and yu will never be ONLINE.
And doesnt matter what is the number of local port, the point is it should be to get replies. your aim messenger uses another one or couple. My program when she running watching for 3000 port and if its free to use then it waits there server replies if it will be busy by another program then it will try to open 3001 and etc else my program will now work. May be you dont understand how could I write protocol like aim oscar and dont beleive it that one man could write program like aim messenger, then you can use my other programs but almost all of them concern only icq. So don’t be afraid I realy busy man and dont care about backdoors, trojans viruses and your screennames. If you afraid then like said my friend dont use it, call to aol time warner and ask birthday of you screenname.
Sorry for mistakes, but my english is not such perfect like yours.
If you have some ideas about how to write aim usefull tool using oscar protocol then welcome to my icq.ps: http://iserverd.khstu.ru/oscar/
usefull site for ulittle addition, I runned icq and aim, so what we see at netstat -b

Memberwow. that girl-boy thing was like “whoa. how could I have used this ****?” No offense but your from Russia and a worm just came out of there, and this might be the starting point for it. I’m not 100% computer literate, so I dont know. But I changed my password, checked it out, and changed it back. So I’m safe. Why don’t you just make the program not listen to Port 3000. It’d be so much easier.
August 26, 2004 at 2:51 pm #39257inf_gth
Memberheh, special for USA aim users I will change the port number to number which uses aim client, but please, don’t use this program anyway, because it’s a TROJAN, BACKDOOR, WORM, VIRUS, HIDDEN SERVICE and something bad for your american health. huh, btw do you know that its a hacking tool? have you baught any licesnce to use it? Its not for free to usa ppl, watch your backs, fbi watching you))).
Now I understand why all world realy hates USA ppl who don’t know what are they talking about but trying to dictate their own conditions and doesnt matter that they dont know anything about it they just paying for that.August 26, 2004 at 3:05 pm #39228Jeff Hester

KeymasterQuestion: Is it wrong to be cautious?
August 26, 2004 at 6:53 pm #39248Muqtada
Membersure it is RECOMMENDED to be cautious, but that does not mean to delete URLs that other people would like to visit.
If you are a vegetarian and have a baby, when it grows up it is correct to
let it make its own choice if it will be a vegetarian too.
So, it is time the URL to be restored for the “brave” ones.
No one is forced to use that prog. But there are people like me who love it. Through it I found when the six digit uins were registered:
