I have read all over the internet, and everyone keeps discussing how The Village has a huge twist at the end, yet no one who has seen it is willing you actually point out what the huge twist at the end was.
Who are these mythical creatures in the movie? What is this huge twist at the end?

But if you just want a short explanation:
*WARNING SPOILER AHEAD*
The village actually takes place in modern times and the elders of the village all met in a counseling center for murder victims somewhere in New York inwhich the leader of the village is infact a billonaire who builds the village in the middle of a huge nature preserve to create a simplistic society without money or crime. Oh and the creatures were all just made up by the elders.

Going greatly off topic someguy…why cant you watch the movie? they wouldnt allow you to?, I don’t really get it.
N.-I actually had no interest in seeing the movie, but wanted to know what the plot twist was, and no one would tell what it was. Luckily, today, I was approached by some girls I know who wanted to see it, and I saw it, and it was pretty good, but I can understand not wanting to know the plot twist, it ruins the entire movie.
My daughter saw the movie last weekend and said it was THE WORST MOVIE SHE HAD EVER SEEN. That says a lot. It was slow. It was NOT scary (other than a few of those moments that make you catch your breath). And the “surprise” sucked big time.
She said that everyone in the theater was saying the same thing as they left. What a major disappointment.
I saw it yesterday, Alot of people were on the cell phones playing games and stuff… I didn’t like it at all.. one of the most worse movies I’ve ever seen…
Well, I hate to be the worst of all, but I WON’T see it….the guy who did Signs[/b] did this one….that was enough to make me want to save my money. The only half-way good movie the man has made, is The Sixth Sense[/b] and if you look all of the movies kind of follow a formula. IMHO.
The thing that really sucked about the movie is that the director left a huge space in between each part that was supposed to scare you, so after being scared you had a some 20 min to calm down, and you would think that he would build up the suspense and just completly horrify you at some point, but he never did. It shouldve been one freaky thing after another.
The one thing I do like about M. Night Shyamalan’s movies is that he shows glimpses of the creatures / monsters that are the “bad guys” in the movies and then at point the humans face off with the creatures in and you get to actually see them. In Signs first you see the Alien walk by at a kids birthday party, and then the alien comes into their house, and they fight it, and you actually get to see what it looks like.
Same thing with The Village.
I dont know, Oreo, I liked Unbreakable and he did that one too.
Yeah, no doubt that he left a lot of downtime in the middle there. I’m usually very calm and collected and hold my attention very well, but even I was shifting in my seat after a while. Cinamatography wise, it was a great movie. Great use of color, sound, camera angles, interesting shots and overall, it had a good story…it just couldn’t hold people’s attention.
I knew that there had to be more to the movie than just those people because M. Night always makes an appearance in his movies and he wasn’t in the village itself. *shrug* Oh well, I’ll just stick to unbreakable, Sammy J is the man. Yo.
Edit: Oh, And Jeff, Worst movie ever? Heh, I guess she’s never seen “Freddy Got Fingered”, be thankful.

Her previous “worst ever” pick was “Mars Attacks” (terrific cast and direction, but one of those movies you either LOVE or HATE). In her mind, this one was worse.
Yeah, that was just one of those movies that you loved or dispised. Lots of famous names though. That and who doesn’t like a rich chicks head on a chihuahua?

It was not scary, of course, but it wasnt suppossed to be either. Movie was good, what wasn’t good is how they advertised it, creating false expectations. Movie message, on the other hand, is deep and thoughtfull, enough for me to make worth the ticket.
I don’t think it was suppossed to be a horrror movie at any point, more a tense movie, I liked the end, it gives a whole meaning to it (that is, if you actually questioned yourself during it).I understand not everybody is going to like it though, not easy to get the most out of it, not an easy movie.
