Hey every 1, yesterday i was on my cell, trying to set up AIM mobile, when I got a Net Alert that said *AIM. I went into it, and it brought me to the Sprint PCS Wireless web! I am using a Virgin Mobile Phone(Party Animal) and now I can surf the web for free..I can play tons of games, go to AOL, AIM, Yahoo, MSN, Google, Ebay, you name it! Does anyone know how this could have happened?:D:D:D:D
July 23, 2003 at 10:45 pm #58744GizTheStudMemberhow did you do that???
July 24, 2003 at 5:30 am #58738Someguy03MemberLets hope its all free. Or hello phone bill. Beware, alot of people with forwarding didnt know that they would get charged for the text messaging, you never know…..
July 24, 2003 at 6:20 am #58740tontamooMemberI would definitely be careful. Just because you can access the Internet (or WAP) via your cell phone doesn’t mean that it is free. You may have just started the internet-access on your phone when you enabled AIM Mobile. I would wait to see your next phone bill before you go crazy accessing games and webpages. I’m 99% sure you will be charged. Nothing is free.
July 24, 2003 at 8:27 am #58737Someguy03MemberThe virgin mobile site says text messaging costs $0.10 every time you send a text message. Thats the only extra fee i can find, Nothing on http://www.virginmobileusa.com talks about wireless cellphone internet.
July 24, 2003 at 3:21 pm #58734Jeff HesterKeymasterRight… everytime you send a text message. So does that mean when I send a “get URL” message, it costs $0.10? Probably.
Always remember and never forget…
If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.July 24, 2003 at 3:48 pm #58743CoCoMoJo89MemberBut that’s just the thing…with Virgin Mobile, there is no contracts, and no bills every month, you just buy minutes every 90 days..they don’t have billing information..And, i sent a test message on AIM, and it didn’t use any minutes. I’ve been talking to a bunch of people, and it hasn’t used any of them. Another thing, you get these things called VirginXtras, which connects you to a WAP site where you can get ringtones and stuff..and that’s free..but whenever I go to VirginXtras, it brings up the Sprint PCS Internet..I don’t understand how a different service plan could get mixed up with mine:eek:

While the minutes may not be used up I would make absoletly sure you are aware of the payment plan for the number of messages sent. If its .10 cents a message and you are racking up the contacts in 90 days that could be a heavy bill. The second thing to make sure of is that you have not activated a second online service however unlikely that may be.
July 24, 2003 at 4:20 pm #58742CoCoMoJo89MemberWhen it says that the text messages you send cost .10 cents, it’s not in actual MONEY, the minutes on your account are called Dollars, so say you have $1.00…you send a text message you now have .90 cents..and it’s free to recieve messages..
