August 17, 2004 at 7:16 am #58758bublzdablonde2Member^ you do not get a bill with Virgin Mobile. It’s a prepaid service. Basically you buy the cards (they are from $20 on up) at a store like wal-mart for example. You add in the pin # from the card onto your phone. Every 3 mos. you need to put $20 into the phone or it becomes inactive. I personally do not understand how the party animal model has aim access as that’s an ancient model.Mine is Rave & I cant get anything like that to work. On the V5 phone I am sure those features are available.

August 19, 2004 at 8:32 pm #58736KPK102MemberI am sure that you will be charged a whole lot this coming month.
VirginXtras
10 cents per day to browse + cost of application. Ringtones and Voice Greetings are free to access. Also text messages are .10 cent.
If you have a sprint browser on your Virgin Mobile, then I am sure that sprint will be charging your Virgin Mobile.
What I would do is call the phone company and ask them about your plan. Because it’s better to be safe then sorry.
August 19, 2004 at 9:11 pm #58735OreoMemberWell, if you do call, call from another phone and don’t say that you are the one who has it…or it might be quits for you. You might want to call and say you know “somebody” who has this ability with their phone. I have Sprint and on certain plans there is unlimited web, text messages, etc….but that’s when you have a plan. And some one mentioned it before, Virgin IS run by Sprint in the USA. Sprint has Virgin mobiles that you can purchase in their stores. These are like the mobiles in Europe where you don’t have to have a plan, you just buy a card and that’s that. But as already stated, it’s best to check up on it so they don’t decide that you cannot buy another card for your phone.

September 1, 2004 at 10:39 pm #58755Kristin88006Memberwell there is aim forwarding (go to aim.com-click the button on the left that says for your cellphone) ……. but my friend USED TO have it forwarded to her celly. it never charged I dont think except for the text’s u send out but dont hold my word to that part just receiving I know was still freeas is with any other text u receive, and since Our virgin mobiles ARE prepaid They CAN’T send u a bill when there are no bills bc u dont have any contracts _at all_ like someone said.
AIM hasnt worked on her cell phone for that company for months and months and I have been trying since FEBRUARY to get it on mine by clicking the “other” service provider on the website. so all u people that want this for your phone atleast give it a look at the http://www.aim.com site because it does work for other providers to and its pretty cool stuff.September 3, 2004 at 3:24 am #58749SpikeMemberOk People, There seems to be a LOT of confusion here, because I just read this whole conversation and scratched my head. So, Let me clarify:
Oh, before I begin, let me tell you my father works for Lucent Technologies, who, may I remind you provides all the wireless companies with their equipment. Summary: I know what I’m talking about.
OK. First things first: If he’s using Virgin Mobile, He’s NOT going to get a bill, repeat, NOT. Virgin Mobile is Pay-As-You-Go. There are no contracts. Now, as for the NetAlert and the free Sprint Wireless, that must have been a mixup where the AOL Server sent the phone some type of message or code that told it: Go get the Sprint Wireless and display it on this phone. Now, had he not been using Virgin Mobile, he would have been billed. But he’s not, so… And it is possible for someone else to do repeat what he did and get lucky, too.
Oh, and yes, Virgin Mobile IS based off of the Sprint service AND towers, and therfore gets the same coverage, etc, etc, etc.
Hope that clarifies. 🙂
September 4, 2004 at 4:35 pm #58753_Max_Memberdoes anyone know how he attepmted to get aim on his phone…like the steps he did for AOL to send aim to his phone by accident!?
