ParticipantIs there any way you could use the word filter, and switch up people’s “slang” and popular misspelled words with the correct ones? Example, any time anyone says “u” it would replace it with “you” etc. It would make the forum look much cleaner, and eliminate “hard-to-read” posts.

MemberI would like to see that done here, too! 🙂
I personally cannot stand slang and misspelled words!
February 26, 2004 at 8:44 pm #49102David
ParticipantWhat other words would you want added besides u->you?
February 26, 2004 at 8:51 pm #49103David
Participanteveryone – everyone
anyone – anyone
anyone – anyone
know – know
ur – your
r – are
tight – tight
like – likeI guess you could take this pretty far. 😉

MemberIt wouldn’t work with snitz. My mate put the word t*rt in his word filter, and “Start” was getting changed to “S****”, however IPB has an option to do this using their “*badword” or “badword” filter, but we are not really using IPB, are we? 🙁
Adding “u” and replacement word “you”, will actually replace “question” with “qyouestion”.
Maggy or Jeff can work out how to work out that though. [:P] Or even David. 🙂

ParticipantNo, that was avoided Faizan.

KeymasterActually it DOES work, Faizan. The trick is in padding the word with spaces.
.r.
will not be converted, but if I put a space on either side
. are .
It works! And so on.

Participantyikes. well… we don’t see that very often, but people who seem to be too lazy to add in an extra two letters, into the word etc. But thats where moderators come in eh. (Just thought it would help them out, and us trying to read it 😉 )

Are you referring to that screwed up post? That happened while Jeff was implementing the ‘filter’.
