KeymasterYou’ve probably noticed the new staff badges and updated premier member and launch party attendee badges:

I’m also very close to unveiling a new style for the site with buttons that are easier to see. I’ve had feedback from the forum newbies that they often overlook the “new post” and “reply” buttons. You can change back to the default style by clicking here.

I will publish a (long overdue) announcement about the new staff members later tonight.
Oh, and everyone on the staff should be able to use their BigBlueBall username@bigblueball.com and it will automatically be forwarded to the email account specified in your profile. Note that this is not automatically updated, so if you change your email address in your profile, I’ll need to reconfigure our mail server to reroute to your preferred email address.
Now I’ve got to go put the chicken in the oven or no one will be eating dinner tonight! 😀

ParticipantSarah, you don’t like purple? 😮 My favorite color! Anyways, I think everything looks great Jeff! Tested my e-mail and that’s working too.

Participanti dont know if i like this new theme entirely, jeff. I like the new reply/quote buttons that stand out, but i think the headers above each post are too harsh. i liked the softer blue gradient-ish blue that you had before… any chance of a hybrid? otherwise i might just stick with changing the style in my prefs.
also, a question about our @bigblueball addresses… are we able to access them to send messages from? I use outlook for most of my email (since i have about 5 addresses that get used regularly), it’d be nice to incorporate this one too, even though i dont know how many emails i’ll be sending from it.

It’s about damn time! :p
tigerblade’s crap opinion 😀 wrote:i think the headers above each post are too harsh. i liked the softer blue gradient-ish blue that you had before…you sir, have issues :p I’ve been using this style for about a month (?) now, and I truly love it. It makes for such easier reading, and it just ‘works’ better.

KeymasterNiiiice. Well as long as the color blue stays I’m happy. Of course what would BigBlueBall be without the color blue? I like the new buttons and badges but I agree with Tigerblade (I guess I must have issues as well) in regards to the blue above each header. Even though it does suit the style, I find it too distracting since everything else is “boldish” except the actual post. I keep finding myself looking at the blue headers. In my opinion, everything just looks too colorful with those headers.I think it should at least be a lighter blue such as is used now:
Right now the Main Header is darker than the headers above each post. I think it would be better if the new style also followed the same idea. Maybe invert the colors for the headers above each post so that it is that dark blue font on a whitish/lightbluish background. I hope I’m making sense.
Anyway if there will be an option to switch from style of the headers or back to the old look, it’ll all be gravy.
EDIT: The blue header doesn’t look bad with long posts, but try looking at a thread with short answers.

ParticipantI like it all. I personally prefer the blue headers without the fade effect. It definately suits the button style more appropraitely.

MemberI agree with Shifter. I never liked the graident blue headers. Also the new buttons are great. For me the old buttons were a problem at first. I know this is rare but I run a 640×480 screen resolution due to the fact I use a HDTV for a monitor. So I have to scroll around the screen to see everything. When the last layout came out I was lost for 5min. 😛 lol.

MemberI gotta say that Big Blue is one of the nicest looking sites on the ‘Net. Who does the graphics?

But I won’t be supporting multiple styles. There are too many modifications to make to the style for me to maintain two versions.Tigerblade wrote:also, a question about our @bigblueball addresses… are we able to access them to send messages from? A quick search on Google found this pretty good reference on changing your “from” or “reply-to” address in Outlook.Shmanky wrote:I gotta say that Big Blue is one of the nicest looking sites on the ‘Net. Who does the graphics? Thanks, Shmanky. I do the design work, although most of it is derivative artwork (taking something and modifying it).

Participant*thumbs up, kitten stamp of approval* Heh…I’m simple though and am totally digging the google search bar at the top *grin*
Bold, fun, innovative and downright snazzy. Though, it does have some of that playskool chunkiness that reminds me of XPHell…I mean, Home. *cough* But, I can forgive *wink*

Keymasterlol it’s funny how the women don’t like our colours. I was thinking the same thing, but at least now it’s more visible. Which I like. Thanks Jeff. Good job.

Memberis it kind of redundant having the text under our name say “advisor” and then the badge also say “advisor?” Maybe we can just change the textual tag to something personalized.
