Well what really chaps my ass is the fact that Rusty says that we should “write to our congressmen and ask them to pull their hands out of their collective purse…” Obviously Rusty doesn’t realize that we’ve sent over troops (which are already in short supply) over to indonesia and other countries to help pass out food and water. Oh yes, and they’ve sent over doctors as well to treat the wounded and to vaccinate individuals so they don’t catch water-born diseases. Wow, that’s so cold-hearted, what was our country thinking, sending over troops, doctors, food, and water (all of this costs money y’know)! So back off you self-righteous turd. Oh yes, I almost forgot, about us “abandoning our christian principals,” since when was it christian to point fingers and decide who has “helped” the most. You should just be happy that anyone is helping at all. Now why don’t you back off and let our country do what it wants, its not like we need your permission anyway. Hope your conscience demands you to pull the stick outta your ass this time ^_^

why are you so worried about this in the 1st place? does it REALLY matter what country offers the most money??? or how much it is “per person”? we have been fighting a war for the past year or two(which, granted, most ppl say is useless though I disagree) PLUS there have been just, ya know, a COUPLE hurricanes on the east coast of the u.s. and plus theres tornados or somethin in california so excuse us for not exceeding your expectations and having to deal with other problems also in our country PLUS donating more money than any other country in the world to the tsunamis.
And you also said that you know you were going to be bashed for your post. if you knew this, I don’t really understand why you posted it in the 1st place.January 4, 2005 at 3:45 am #110079kendra_marie08MemberHAHAHA I just read firefoxman’s reply…….wow…….EXACTLY what most of us Americans have been trying to defend this whole time. and also well put!
January 4, 2005 at 2:00 pm #110056sharpshooterMemberAll I can say is that countries are sending what money they can. It shouldn’t just be about what the USA sends; it should be about what the whole world sends. Even small countries like East Timor are sending what they can (£26,000). Okay, it doesn’t look like much, but it’s something. If the world can put a huge amount of money and resources together then everyone will have done their part.
Like many people have said before, it shouldn’t be a race to see who can donate the most money, over 100,000 people have died and many more have been injured from the tsunamis. We shouldn’t be arguing over how much 1 country donates compared to the amount of people either. I see why people think that the USA should donate more, because it is one of the world’s ‘powers’ and, geographically, it’s a big country. Like everyone else though, the USA has its own problems (such as Florida’s hurricanes last summer) and has to deal with them as well.
Let’s just hope that all the recovery teams sent to Asia can all work together to save thousands of lives that could easily be lost.
January 5, 2005 at 11:19 am #110027xerraireMemberInterestingly enough, Rusted is strangely silent.
In the end, it was a lot of tragedy. Its been overwhelmingly immense and a huge shock. Now people all over the world are helping in the way that they can, and thats a lot of help.
Maybe Rusted’s silence is due to her taking her negative attitude, and has gone on to do something positive, if so, well done.

Silent? only because of a change in trhis site and an inability to log in…….. I am not negative.. I support my people giving $50 per head of population…. I would like to see the rest of the world doing the same.
Dont assume my silence had any meaning, I would not pre-judge you. return me the same favour.Dee.

Obviously you cared, I never suggested any country should contribute anything….. I just asked.. dont you care?.. you do, thanx on behalf of 150 thousand dead.Dee.

Troops? so what? we have provided the means for then to actually land there. doctors? I guess they will work in already set-up field hospitals. dont assume I wished to start any tit for tat war… I simply asked a question.. dont you care?
You obviously answered it… you dont give a damn. thanx for being honest.Dee.
January 6, 2005 at 6:35 pm #110013rustedtightMemberBecause of the personal attack content to an original question which at the time mirrored world opinion, and was itself not personal, I will not reply here to any further posts.
Unless ofcourse the content demands it.I wish to thank the various governments for their response to what is many thousand times more devastating than anything you could imagine and to the eventual response of the US government and its people.
Today the count is 150 thousand dead, only by the swift intervention of many governments and contributions by their people will this number be stalled from rising.
Thank you all.
Dee.

We ARE and HAVE BEEN helping – we CLEARLY ‘give a damn’.
Maybe we [Americans] would pull our heads out of our asses (As if they are there) if so many foreign countries didn’t tell us what we should and should not do, and point out how they “do more”. Maybe Americans wouldn’t so so “arrogant” if everyone else didn’t bitch at us so much? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – we are big bad stupid Americans until someone needs something; then they come to us!
We are all helping, back off.
January 6, 2005 at 7:03 pm #110014rustedtightMemberFirefoxMan wrote:You are a freaking moron. I feel bad that your country got hit by a tidal wave, but we have our own problems. Whenever there’s major world catastrophe, we’re always the ones to run to everyone’s aid. But whenever we don’t “do our job” or should I say “stop everything and help poor little Australia when they want us too, despite the fact that we’re in a huge defecit already and your being hit by some water isn’t our first and foremost priority,” our country is ALWAYS picked on first because we “just don’t care.” Get over yourself. George Bush and our Congressman have done a damn good job handling our current situation (and I’m not a big supporter of Bush). We spent MILLIONS of dollars (which we don’t have) to help out the world during times of crisis… but just in case you didn’t know, thousands of men and women in our armed forces are getting gunned down everyday. We’re trying to get them home and to end the war before we start to shift ALL of our attention to your little island in the middle of the ocean… I don’t care what the world thinks either. They can kiss my ass if they have a problem with the way our country acts, I’m proud to be and American, and I’m proud of how we’re handling everything as well. Of course there is a moron here…. the moron that is on the attack… you.
For your information moron, we are not affected by the tsunami, who told you otherwise?
For your information moron, we also are at war with terrorism and were the first to join your coalition of the willing, we also lose soldiers each month.
For your information moron, our ecconomy is not as healthy as normal.
Read my original post moron and see that I only asked… ‘dont you care’ you have replied personally……… your people replied otherwise, they cared.
Thankyou in anycase.Dee.
January 7, 2005 at 2:00 am #110073FirefoxManMemberwell I”ve decided to delete this post. None of us are ever going to change RustedTight’s mind, and RustedTight will never change our own. It’s useless to try. Replying to this topic altogether is just tiring, it’s high time you stopped your “questioning” of our actions towards the tsunami victims RustedTight.
January 7, 2005 at 2:44 pm #110028xerraireMemberRusted, Prejudge? You address a whole nation of peoples saying things like..
“Why do you not now give a damn?”
“your hands remain in your shallow pockets”
“Dont you care?”
“You considered the percentage of Muslims affected in the disaster and measured your contribution accordingly?”
“Christianity is dead in the USA?”
“Does 100 thousand dead mean nothing to you?”
“By your actions you will be judged”Those were your words, and you dare to accuse me to prejudge?
I merely pointed out that you had been silent and outloud wondered why.
I see now was you couldn’t log in. The judgement tone was yours in the comments you made, and are there for anyone to see.January 9, 2005 at 12:06 pm #110015rustedtightMemberAcknowlegements to Piers Akerman.. journalist.
The tsunami which swept out from Indodesia 2 weeks ago not only smashed the populations of the seaboard of nieghbouring nations but it has devastated the notion of a so-called Islamic world.
Any concept of a unified Islamic entity should now be viewed with scepticism. The lack of any coherent response to the needs of the tsunami victims from the mythical arab conscience and the bloodthirsty mullahs preaching hatred across the majority of Islamic nations demonstrates precisely how wrong it was to give the fanatics even token attention.
What has been revealed by the Jakarta conference is that it is not the Islamic brothers-in-arms who have responded to the tragedy but the nations that are usually refered to in Arab countries as the Great Satans.
The Arab oil producers are knee deep in black gold but apart from a token payment from the United Arab Emirates, thye have been almost invisible in the aid lists.
Giving aid should not be a contest but it is apparent that Australia’s 20 million population is contributing much more than many other nations and certainly more than any Islamic country. It should not be lost upon the Islamic world that the Israeli victim identification team now working in Indonesia was developed to help identify the innocent victims of Muslim terrorists.
In modern history’s greatest disaster lies the genesis for understanding how destructive and sterile militant Islam is.
In this catastrophe and all future catastrophes as far as we can see into the future, the saviours will come from Australia and the US, and the other nations the Muslims are taught to hate.
😮
Dee.P.S. Today, Indonesian soldiers (Muslim) sent to help fellow Muslim victims have been shot at and wounded by militant Muslim seperatists.
You tell me who is insane.January 10, 2005 at 10:59 am #110053QwertyMemberNow come on rustedtight. Thats a stupid thing to say and im embaressed to be an Australian after your little cry. The US has sent in troops and the like and will provide massive aid and is the largest aid giver (i think) in the entire world and even then, theres no need to attack US citizens like you did. Don’t be so arrogant and ignorant.
