MemberHi Gossipingrae.
I got AVG from grisoft for a anti virus and spybot for spyware. For AVG go to http://www.grisoft.com and for spybot go to http://www.download.com. You have to search for spybot on download.com.August 8, 2004 at 1:51 pm #74778matthew

MemberWell.. it is recommended to have both SpyBot and Ad-Ware installed on your computer. It is not required to have both installed, but if you want to be spy/ad-ware free, install both so if Ad-ware should miss some then SpyBot will detect some.
SpyBot and Ad-ware can be found through the posts above. 🙂

Memberhey kyuubi I couldnt find the AVG 7.0 for free…unless im blind and I am not reading correctly…do you think you could just send the link for a free download? I don’t want a 30 day trial. haha I would like one to keep forever if that is possible. thanks.

Memberi’m bringing back this thread, because I have a question. I downloaded the free version of AVG and every time I reboot my computer, I get a little box that says “your computer may be at risk” and to click for updates.
so my question is, does anyone know if I can update the free version of AVG or do I have to download another one?
is it even out of date? or just my computer saying that?

MemberWhat version of AVG do you have, and are you able to update it?
December 12, 2004 at 7:21 pm #74785gossipingrae
Memberi have the free version, and I went to the site to update, and it says that people who have free versions cannot update. however, there are people in this forum who know many ways to get around things, and I was wondering if (since I can’t update) there was anyone who COULD update if they had the free version?

MemberWell…even though we can’t tell you how to get around these things…because we don’t support those things here…you are in luck. About a month or two ago AVG mentioned they would not be supporting….6.0 I think…any longer. All you have to do is change your free version. If you go to their site…you’ll see there is still a free version…the version number has changed. All you have to do is download it and install. It will ask you if you want to replace the other one…say yes. This time you won’t have to wait and wait for the key and this and that. It will just install! I hope this helps you. 🙂

Open AVG and click on “Virus Database” and you will get and update option. You can set it to download updates on a regular basis or you can update it immediately.I am running V6.0 I do not have any problems updating it.
Hope that helpsDecember 12, 2004 at 9:17 pm #74786gossipingrae
Memberi’m downloading the free version again i’ll let you know if it helps.
EDIT: thanks oreo, it worked. thanks to everyone else for being patient.
EDIT: okay, well, the download worked and it detected a virus…but it did not remove the virus like the old version. any suggestions?
