MemberWhat virus did it detect? You may have to remove it a different way than it can do. I remember with the older version it detected a worm but it was unable to get rid of it. And I actually had to get help to get rid of the nasty, little thing.

Memberactually, there were 3 of them, all called “Trojan horse Downloader Comet” but each of them were downloader B, C and D. under status, it says “infected, imbedded object.”
if you know how to remove it, please share

MemberOhhh….I would suggest you find someone at your IT department at your college to handle that one. It might be a bit tough…I had to have someone help me take care of mine step by step… and even that was a long arduous process

Memberthanks kron. i’m about to head out the door to take two final exams, so when I get back, I will try that and let you know how it works!
EDIT: thanks for that site kron. I followed all of the instructions on how to remove that trojan. it didn’t work though, but the instructions say to reboot and keep trying. I will have to do that later.

MemberIn that case Oreo’s suggestion would be the best option. If you can not find an IT guy you could try this site. Go to the security section and post your problem and follow the instructions I am sure you will get a better answer there.
If you are going to use the site you will need Hijack this. Do not click on the Fix button unless you know what you are doing. Go to the site and post the log people there will help you out.
Hope this helpsDecember 14, 2004 at 4:57 pm #74789gossipingrae
Memberi called a professional techie person on campus, and they said that they do not help students who are not living on campus 🙁 what kind of crap is that? they only assist students living in the dorms or campus apartments. I live downtown in my own apartment. too bad I have to pay for this service and not use it. BAHHHHH…i’ll just have to get someone back at home to look at it. thanks though.

That totally blows! If your $$ is going to it they should help you. Maybe you just need to find the right person working there, talk to some of them in person…ask questions…you’ll know the one who’s nice and won’t mind helping you. OTHERWISE, Don’t you have a friend living on campus who’s house your PC could “visit?” I know things are just about over with this semester and some one at home helping you is just as good. But if you have the time…you may want to pop your head into your IT department and get to know the people there. You may find they’ll help you a lot more if they know your face and you’re pleasant. I don’t mean flirting with them to help you, I mean just good old fashioned niceness….it goes miles farther than a phone call (no matter HOW nice you are on the phone…if they don’t see you, with your look of “the deer in the headlights” they will be cold and do things by the book).
Good luck with everything! And congrats on being done with FINALS…(EEEEEEE I still shudder when I see that word!)

Memberyeah, it was about 26 degrees this morning and I didn’t wanna leave my bed to go talk to them. lol talk about lazy. yeah, I always agree that in person is a lot nicer than on the phone.
PS: not done with finals yet, I have 2 more…but more than halfway done.

MemberHi gossipingrae,
Have you try scanning for viruses and adware/spyware under safe mode? If not try it, and if it cannot be repaired, then delete the file.
