Today is election day in the US. Don’t sit around and complain. Get to the polls and exercise your right to vote!
DO IT!!!!
And a few YouTube *old* reminders are here:
November 7, 2006 at 12:12 pm #154131TigerbladeParticipantI really wanted to vote, but I’ve not gotten the time to actually figure out who and what is up for the vote. I don’t have any information on anything I’d be voting on, so really… this time around it’s best that I don’t vote. Grrr.
November 7, 2006 at 7:28 pm #154132sarahtownyMemberoh well good for the USA polar not really sure about why we need to hear about this in an international website. Sure it matters to the USA to the rest of us non-american members it means poop especially when this is just an internal vote it not a change of president. Its your local vote.
Don’t want to sound rude but personally I would not post that it is local election time in the UK.
I would like to add that there are some countries in this world who don’t even get the chance to vote for anything!
November 7, 2006 at 7:37 pm #154126OreoMemberActually only some states have a big stake in this mid-term election. I get so sick of propaganda around voting time…it really cheapens the whole process. But certainly vote if you want to, tiger, there are places on Yahoo! where you can edify yourself on the issues…the big ones in Wis. right now are the death penalty, gay marriage and govenor. But what that means to the rest of the world…probably not that much 😉
November 7, 2006 at 9:18 pm #154146PolarBearNPRParticipantActually, I was just hoping to remind folks here and abroad of the importance of voting . . . here today, other days in other parts of the world. And actually, many of us are hoping that our vote WILL make a difference in the world. The elections are for members of congress . . . the body that can override an overzealous president in his attempts to . . . but I digress.
Our local issues concern smoking in public places, education, minimum wage, workers compensation, and some city ordinances; judges, and various state offices including governor.
Hope that helps explain my early morning post.

She is just giving a friendly reminder, which i would like to say THANKS! for. Didn’t get a chance to post that yesterday, so doing so today.
It’s a good reminder to people who like me have bad memories. 🙂

November 8, 2006 at 3:38 pm #154134DermotParticipantlol…to be honest after the last voting you lot done in america..
i think most americans should look at more who they are voting for instead of just why they should vote.
But then not been american i guess it doesnt appeal or append to me.
but i guess the likes of voting for bush could have effects that could ripple all over the world not just america, we may not be able to vote in ameica but it effects us all, just like wars not in america effect us.
I just hope americans think about this when they vote as i do think their elected president should be dealing with matters in their own countries before trying to deal with matters (oil) in others.
I was just reading the other day about the voting machines you use in america and how they can be exploited with ease, scarey.
November 8, 2006 at 9:49 pm #154147PolarBearNPRParticipantAnd to read about the world’s reaction to our election results (which have changed the balance of power), go here. Apparently folks are watching, thinking, and reacting in all corners of this Big Blue Ball.
November 8, 2006 at 9:54 pm #154133princeGParticipantYup, actually it was first or second subject on the news here.

November 9, 2006 at 1:18 pm #154127OreoMemberAlso, what a lot of people do not get is that there is an unfortunate lack of difference between Democrats and Republicans….there’s not much of a “real” choice which is why some people just do not vote. I was lucky…in my state we had some third party candidates that were better than the mainstream…they did not win…but at least I was not forced to vote for people who I feel are completely corrupt and need the boot! I saw a great South Park on election night…the moral of the episode was in an election you basically have a choice between a huge douche bag and a turd sandwich….crude…yet so telling.
