As you may have noticed, our AIM Center navigation at the top of the page is missing the famous AOL “running man” logo. Why? Well somehow our humble little site attracted the ire of AOL attorneys, who wrote us a hand-slapping letter and made us take it off. So for now, you see the mysterious, golden question mark.
Obviously this will never do. We’ve got to find something better, so let’s hear (or better yet, see) your suggestions. Just post them here, and let’s have fun!

I just happened to run across this site for the first time yesterday: http://www.phoons.com
Apparently the “running man” pose has a name. It’s called a “phoon.”
Here’s a funny example from a sign that anyone who’s driving past the border patrol checkpoint near San Onofre will recognize:
Yes, it’s the running man, woman and child! Heh-heh.
April 20, 2003 at 4:04 am #97038molotov78509MemberWhy not just have something like the “burn aol” buddyicon? You could create an image of a kid burning an AOL cd.

Ay Hoe Hell may beg you to replace it with their own copyrighted n patented version later.:D:DApril 20, 2003 at 8:25 am #97027SlumMemberWhat about the classic running sign?
April 20, 2003 at 2:22 pm #97025detn8rParticipantNice one molo and RT……… very creative!!
April 25, 2003 at 12:28 pm #97037DaRkSiDeMemberHey heres a point..
What about the smaller “Phoon” or “Running Main” icon in forum posts? I think AOL will want you to change that as well…
April 25, 2003 at 5:02 pm #97035newrisedesignsMemberGo the Aimster route and use a target or some other archery/weapons scheme. Symbology is close enough that the connection can be made.
April 26, 2003 at 12:14 am #97030FaizanMemberI’ll have a go at making one tonight on my PhotoShop7.0
It might be sensible…lolApril 26, 2003 at 12:25 am #97040DavidParticipantWhy will they let you have this , but not that?

How about this?April 26, 2003 at 6:21 am #97024detn8rParticipantwere not about anti aim…….. although some of us may think that way. Jeff’s trying to use NON aol ‘copyrighted’ images. This includes the actual running man, and the AOL image.

—how stupid would that look if AOL took someone to court over using their icon for their own promotion. i dont understand why AOL continues to be so popular. it must be all the old fougy….Jeff, if using the icon you had, but with a © no good?
