MemberSeems that they have simplified the process of removing the ad -ware.
Manual Remove Directions:
1) Press Control+Alternate+Delete on your keyboard.
2) Find the process labeled “b.exe” and press end program.
3) Press Start menu, followed by search, then click files and folders.
4) Type “b.exe” in the search.
5) When found, delete the file named “b.exe”.
6) Change your profile back to what you want.
ALL DONE.

MemberFor all of you out there who, at some time, come upon adware (trust me, you all will) I’d strongly suggest picking up a copy of Spybot: Search and Destroy at this site.
If you want to check out their homepage, head to http://www.safer-networking.org .
I’ve never come upon a piece of adware or spyware that presented anything of a challenge to this wonderful life saving program….and best of all, it’s free!November 19, 2003 at 6:52 am #53316Atlas
Participantzlink, spybot doesnt pick up every peice of spyware/adware on your on computer. you’ll also need Ad-aware, if you want to get every peice of spyware/adware off your hard drive. Ad-ware is also free 😉

MemberRight livesNabox, Spyware cleaners dont remove programs such as Realphx, wich runs as a process and acts as more as a file you downloaded than ad-ware. This is something Spyware removers need to start targeting as more and more advertisers are using this method.

MemberI know that the file you get from Realphx changes your profile to a link to their site and it sends a link to their site in convosations. Does it actually do anything else? Like make ad’s or gather computer data? I dont see the point in distributing a program that only directs users to the developers site.

MemberI believe it also ads some adaware to your computer … run SpyBot or LavaSoft’s AdAware to remove it (both are free downloads, look for em at download.com)
The point is for the developers to make $$ .. when people have these programs installed, they can show popups and other ads on your computer meaning they are getting paid by advertisers…

MemberThat isn’t the only sympton, I also got the virus…The other thing that started happening was–I started getting random INTERNET EXPLORER pop ups. I use Avant Browser, and NEVER get pop ups, until now…Internet explorer pops up and opens randomly with porn pop ups etc…I didn’t get the Profile bug, but I did get random pop ups AND Icons appear on my desktop now and then (lycos blah blah, bargain buddy etc.) I did Adaware, spybot, and many other programs to cleanse my computer, and none seem to get rid of this particular problem…Any suggestions on that?

MemberI tried using the suggestions, however i had already deleted the whole “Adware” program thru “Install and Delete Programs.” The website wouldtn’ work and my profile still has that link and the “HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE.” Do you guys have any ideas? I tried to re-install it again and then delete it, but whenever i go back to the page it says there is an error in the page. I searched my C: drive, and there are no “b.exe” documents. PLZ HELP I’ve been working at this for a really long time.
