Is there any way to find how long the user have been logged on in Yahoo Messenger. Its just a doubt and it got nothing to do with his/her privacy. Is the idle time against the idle members is correct? Coz when i logged out n logged in i see the time starts from 0 mins once again.

i·dle ( P ) Pronunciation Key (dl)
adj. i·dler, i·dlest1.
- a. Not employed or busy: idle carpenters. See Synonyms at inactive.
- b. Avoiding work or employment; lazy: shiftless, idle youth. See Synonyms at lazy.
- c. Not in use or operation: idle hands.
The ‘Idle time’ is the time you have been inactive (not sending any messages) for.

MemberThe idle time is the time elapsed since they last posted.
The time starts when you enter the room, which is not very useful if you are looking to see if a user is actually active in the room, or just left it open in the background.

MemberAre you talking about idle time related to chat, or people on your friends list, the idles in chat reset when u enter a room, would be much better if it would just show their actual idle time, but i guess it works. These times aren’t always accurate sometimes they don’t reset when someone posts a message in a room. On messenger most people show as idle after 15 minutes, and it doesn’t reset if u re-login, if u don’t use your computer for 15 minutes, or w/e you have it set on, then it will show you as idle.
If you are really wanting to know how long someone has been online, then you need to use aim, but if you want an idea how long someone has been online on yahoo, and they are on your friends list, you can open a message window up to them, and if they sign online, it will tell you in the box what time they signed online(but they have to be on your friends list). If they sign offline the text will show what time they signed off, instead of when they signed on.June 16, 2003 at 3:02 pm #61365macroheadwithamicrobrain
MemberActually you can set your status to idle by modifying [again] the registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareYahooPagerprofilesyour_yahoo_idCustom Msgs) or using Andy_w2s‘ YStatusFX.

MemberIs there any other way 2 open that regedit thing? Or is it only in “run”
June 17, 2003 at 12:46 pm #61378freddy
MemberYou can start regedit by going to start, run typing regedit and pressing ok. This will start up the registry editor.
For basic info on editing the registry, you can see http://www.freddys-utilities.co.uk/regedit.php there is also a program that can be used to edit status messages here http://www.carbonize.co.uk/Yahoo/programs.php (Messy Stuff)
The program is safe, and very small to download!

MemberAre you running a system that has administrator levels, and you are not one of them???
That program will do it for you, but I can’t say why registry editor is shutting like that.

MemberIs there any other way 2 access regedit?
June 17, 2003 at 6:22 pm #61376freddy
MemberCheck for viruses immediately khizz
I recommend http://housecall.antivirus.com
There are known viruses which close the registry editor to stop you deleting the virus keys from with in. Even if you have a virus scanner installed, a virus may be stopping it from running.
Have you noticed any other strange goings on on your pc? Like browser starting itsself etc…?

MemberJust to add to that, you might need this link,
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.yaha.removal.tool.html
I suspect YaHa infection from what I have been reading.
Any exe files you need to open MUST be renamed to .com (com and exe are both executable files, the virus only effects files with extenion .exe). Write down any exe files you are instructed to open, change the file extension, and then when its all fixed, change back to .exe. Also when you are finished, run your normal virus scan to get rid of any last bits.
