Well that’s why it’s good to write nonsense. I never use mine to write anything personal. I just use it because I’m bored and always have something dorky to comment on. heh. As for personal writing, I don’t do it. My personal thoughts stay in my head. As a guy, having a diary would really lower my manly ruggedness. *Puffs out chest and walks around like a muscly guy*
April 18, 2005 at 4:47 pm #119666AwesomeSauceParticipantI used to try writing by hand in an actual journal, the kind I can hold in my hand, but I would much rather type than handwrite. And I also thought “What’s the point of writing all this stuff down if no one’s going to read it?” And if there’s something really personal that you would rather not put in your blog, just don’t put it there. Blogs are like public journals, however they are not always about someone’s personal life. Sometimes they talk about the latest news in computers, the media, or you name it. Mine is kind of a mix – my life, and once in a while I will talk about maybe this new PC game I got, or my iPod.
As for me, I don’t really mind blogging about anything really personal, unless I just don’t want anyone to know about it(especially my family; or more paticularly, my brother, who reads it often). So anyway, the possibilities are endless.

But hey, if you feel that keeping a journal might lower the testosterone level in your body…don’t do it. LoL.

Mine is only used as a public portal to just update people on my life, or to make simple chat. Anything beyond that I keep to myself.
April 19, 2005 at 5:24 pm #119660TigerbladeParticipantmy question to those of you who do update their blog regularly… why do you think people are going to come to your site and read your blog? any particular reasons you think people are that interested in your personal goings-on that they’ll read your thoughts as posted on a blog for all to see?
i’m not being critical or negative, i’m just asking a serious question. that’s the main reason i’ve decided its not really worth my time to do a “blog” per se…. it takes more effort than i’m willing to expend on it, and for what reason? who’s going to actually read it?
April 19, 2005 at 6:17 pm #119657shifterMemberHonestly, I don’t post on my blog for other people’s benefit. I post for my benefit. If people enjoy it and read it regularly that’s great, but that’s not really the point for me. I like having a personal space for stuff that’s happening in my life, but really I find its more of an outlet. I also find it’s a great way to hone up on your writing skills. The way the english language has degraded to such overuse of slang terms, it’s good to actually write in complete sentences with proper grammar and punctuation once in a while!
April 19, 2005 at 6:48 pm #119661TigerbladeParticipantright… so why not break out a sheet of paper in a notebook somewhere and write? i guess what I don’t understand is if you want to have some kind of outlet for your thoughts and experiences, why do they need to be posted online? even if you dont intend for others to read them… especially if you dont intend for or expect others to read it.
is it because its just easier for some of us to type instead of write? i can understand that – most of the time i’d prefer to type something instead of write it longhand. but if that’s the reason, why post it online? you can just as easily save it locally to your own computer and never let it see the light of the internet.
April 19, 2005 at 6:59 pm #119658shifterMemberSure, it’s personal preference in my opinion. I like having mine up so I can recieve comments and other points of view. If you don’t see the point of writing a blog online, then don’t write one. It’s your choice. Nobody’s forcing you! 😛
April 19, 2005 at 7:16 pm #119667AwesomeSauceParticipantYes, for me, it is a lot easier to type than handwrite. And again, what’s the point of having a journal if no one will ever read it? However, like shifter, I don’t blog for other people. I blog because it’s fun, and it lets me express my thoughts and views on anything I wish.
Who’s going to visit my blog? anyone who wants to. 🙂
