Anyone who seriously plays GW here knows exactly what I’m talking about.
It’s pretty universal with all MMORPGs, and yes, it pisses me off beyond belief.
April 9, 2006 at 5:51 am #141757OreoMemberWhen people complain so much about an MMORPG that the company makes things too easy and it’s not as fun to play anymore…..that gets to me…

April 9, 2006 at 2:51 pm #141770MrEggsaladParticipantOh, another big thing..heh When people are playing online and they just start cussing their heads off. That annoys me so much! I’m just playing like even a racing game and they are like “oh I f***ed that up!” My younger brother likes to watch, but he’s not allowed to play because of that kind of stuff. It’s really just horrible.

It’s really just horrible.I was once “reported” in World of Warcraft for cracking “lewd” jokes about one of the NPCs. Everyone was getting a laugh of it, but some guy immediately started screaming at me that I ought not to be making such jokes, as you never how young some players are (he claims his 3 year old daughter was watching over his shoulder — not that she could even read!).
I should just like to know why he was permitting his 3 year old daughter to watch a clearly T-rated game!
Blizzard told him the same, it’s a T-rated game, and therefore they couldn’t penalize me for cracking mature jokes. 😛
April 9, 2006 at 7:28 pm #141777Tea GrannyMemberArtificial game lengthening! Notice how games are becoming more difficult to play because the button presses need to be faster, exact timed, or a variable of multiple button presses at once. Making you repeat the same thing until you get the exact sequence perfect. They’ve also thrown in a random factor making you repeat something until you get lucky enough to get the right set of circumstances to complete the mission or level. Instead of making games intellectually more complex, they make them faster, or more random. Don’t think, just react. The side effect of this seems to be more swearing and frustration. Which brings me to another point. The older you get the more difficult it becomes to get these reaction times good enough to get through. There are not a lot of gamers my age now, so there isn’t alot being said. What will happen when this huge generation of game players reach the age when game play reactions prevent 80% of your generation from playing or enjoying games? Or do you all plan on giving up gaming as you age? I’ve been told I will die with a controler in one hand, and a cup of tea in the other. So, I know what my answer is!

But the thing I hate most about games would have to be something I see a lot on KH now and some other games. In game cut scenes (So they’re not particularly pretty) that serve no purpose or have entirely too much ‘wasted time’ in them. LIke 30 seconds of watching the characters… … walk? What the crap is that!? I just want to skip the scene, but I know if I do I’ll miss out on information…more like I just want to fast forward it a bit.
As far as MMORPGs go…I play a freebe called Knight Online. Not really pretty but it’s free, and I’ve gotten all my friends (and mama) to play with me.
Other than the usual problems you’re going to run into, KSers, beggers and such…what I hate is people who just whine and whine and whine and expect everyone to bend to their bitching. … … and leeches who sit in a party and do nothing. Oh… … … and turks. *cough* That’s a Knight Online thing. Most of the people are Turkish. I have an english name. I obviously don’t speak Turkish. I tell them that I don’t…in english, and they keep talking. But that’s with anyone who annoys me, as well.
I generally just leave my IM’s off in game and do my thing. Though, it’s a bit harder as a priest, who obviously isn’t made for hacking and bashing. *cough* Though I do it anyway. Whoo Suicidal Priests Unite! *pumps her fist*
April 11, 2006 at 1:03 am #141778Tea GrannyMemberI started this particular post because my son kept making age related comments 😡 on my gaming gripes. Even when I used to hand him the controller and say “gee why don’t you show me how to get throught this” and he couldn’t, he refused to accept that things irritate at all ages . I was glad to hear others agree with some of my gripes. Even better was reading posts from people who play different types of games than I do. I don’t do online so I wouldn’t know what the bad things are with those. I can’t figure out IM – so online is out out out. Thanks for adding some different things to my list RabidKitten. Oh, and in case I don’t get a chance to say this elsewhere, you’re posts are a riot to read :D. Your visual descriptive text is hillarious *tears rolling down her checks*!
April 11, 2006 at 2:33 am #141761Dr KimbleParticipantHaving to “unlock” characters or other features. I usually play two player games with my brother and it is annoying only being able to choose between two characters. Sure, they can be unlocked, but that is time consuming and not always easy. -_-
On some games it is fun, because unlocking features is the whole point, but on sports themed games it is just ridiculous.
April 11, 2006 at 3:55 am #141779Tea GrannyMemberA lot of people have the same complaint. Some can’t unlock things because it is too hard. Some just hate the time it takes. I think that’s why cheat codes are popular. It gives you a chance to use/see unlockables you may not get to see. It just bugs me when I don’t get my money’s worth out of a game because I don’t have the skill to unlock everything.
April 14, 2006 at 6:40 am #141758EEDOKMember2 things, that solely apply to online games:
1. The fact you have to play them relentlessly to actually be able to win at the competitive online games, some people do have lives you know.
2. Spamorting noobs, people that fill the screen/spam the mic with whatever random and useless crap they can, it sucks.April 25, 2006 at 5:17 am #141774YunaMemberWhat I don’t like about games is the fact that sometimes you have to play every single part of the game to be able to achieve an ending. Final Fantasy X needs at least 70% or more to be able to view the perfect ending.
I also hate battles that go on for ages, they tend to get boring. There were a few of those in Final Fantasy VIII and X. 😀
April 25, 2006 at 3:53 pm #141780Tea GrannyMemberI find it frustrating that some games offer a unique ending for 100% completion. I often don’t have the skills/patience to complete the game, so I never see the final true ending!:(
April 25, 2006 at 4:01 pm #141781ToLoveAndToBeLovedMembergames that are just shoot and kill with now real story line kinda piss me off
April 27, 2006 at 12:23 pm #141782SteveBingMemberthe thing i hate the most are intros for a game that u cant skip that take ages i also hate is when games keep crashing for no reason
