How do you rate AIM (AOL Instant Messenger)?
(5 being the best):confused:July 23, 2002 at 11:18 am #67819July 23, 2002 at 7:04 pm #67825bushwickMemberI love it when GMTA 🙂
AOL Instant Messenger was a creative concept that soon traveled south the minute that they figured out:
“Hey, why don’t we plug our online service in a little space above the buddylist?”
Then it went from that to:
“Hey I’ve got it, why don’t we add file transfering to it, so that all the pedophiles can share explicit child porngraphy to one another”
Not realizing of course the security risks that were involved with that brilliant brainstorm.
Finally a man in a suite and tie in Reston Va, stands up and says:
“Let’s allow everyone to add buddy icons to their IM window so we can simulate a face to face conversation with one another”
I can’t wait to see what they come up with next

February 14, 2003 at 8:31 pm #67829newrisedesignsMemberThere are many chat programs that surpass the quality of AIM. Yet they are too confusing or complicated for an Internet newbie.
For ease-of-use and availability, AIM/AOL is near the top.
Most of the people I chat with online have AIM/AOL, which is a plus.
Standing alone, AIM pales in comparison to other clients or services. As a stepping stone to learning more about the Internet and IRC (generally speaking, not just the IRC network), it’s great for those looking for an simple program.
March 17, 2003 at 6:05 am #67830SonorkGuyMemberaim is a mediocre sort of IM – it works, and has a LOT of users, but the quality of aim not the thing that bugs me about it – the main thing is what I suspect AOL does with the user info, and how they could sort of “guide” users in the directions they want them going (not the mention a force-fed diet of SPAM). Preying on the ignorance and naîvete of inexperienced users….
But, I guess that’s “good business”. ;o)
Just my opinion, anyway.
March 17, 2003 at 8:26 am #67828SlumMemberYea, AIM is good for some reasons and bad for others. It depends what the people you talk to use… see most of my friends use AIM and to keep in touch throughout colleges, thats the major means to talk. I guess I am saying its good for what its worth
May 28, 2003 at 8:20 am #67834khawkinsMemberBecause i voted 2 as for aim being (A)lM)OST (O)N(L)INE
