It is cool to see some fledging digital artists out there though. I notice some questions about Fireworks and Photoshop, and I can tell you from experience that Fireworks is great for web graphics but is not optimized for serious image manipulation. However Photoshop is great for image manipulation and web graphics. It’s more a matter of preference and end product for which you should use. I actually find that I use Adobe Illustrator more for designing web graphics than either of those two. Just use what you’re comfortable with, it makes it far easier anyway.
Those look pretty good Someguy. Did you do just duplicate the layer with the shoes, rotate it, and lower its opacity?

I’ll have to check in on Adobe Illustrator, since you say it’s good for making graphics, as well…

What exactly is the difference between Photoshop and Illustrator? I have them both, but I never use Illustrator.
I know this topic is pretty much dead, but recently my friend and I have really gotten into photoshop(yes I know we are nerds) and I have some stuff to show y’all.
Due to recent changes, I can only show one image at a time. The rest are attachments. Please look at them and tell me what you think. Some of these only took like 5 minutes, some of them took 30 to an hour. Two of them I made for some of my friends (girls) so don’t ask what its for.
Actually Colin, in that converse wallpaper, the picture already had a reflection of the shoes underneath. So I didn’t have to do anything. But if I wouldve had to, I wouldve done exactly what you did (duplicate the layer, flip it, and lower its opacity). Also, I see you changed the font on that thing for that girl. Nice. 😉 And I love the background in that “Holly is Beautiful” banner, its got a good effect to it.
Thanks alot someguy. I have some more (Me and my friend just can’t seem to get enough of Photoshop all the sudden!) that will be coming soon.

WOW….Great job! I remembered your Best Friend’s photo from before…so I was pretty sure he was the one with the black hair. I want to do cool things like that when I am just killing time. You are really talented! I hope you plan on making money with this talent in the future. 🙂
How do you do that (Mainly, how do you know where to do shadows)? My brother just goes over the original colors with MS Paint and then touches it up in photoshop (he makes web comics).

For what it’s worth and for those of you who might be interested in a FREE alternative to Photoshop…there is a program called “The Gimp.” I downloaded it the other day to see what it was all about. It’s actually pretty neat and does a lot of the things PS can do…though not ALL….however…it seems to be getting better. One word of warning though…the main page is just sourcecode…if you want an actual program…they will send you to download GTK+ which you have to download BEFORE the actual .exe
If you are bored or just up for a change….give it a try…it is free and it is SUPPOSED to be free….so there is nothing illegal about it! 🙂 ENJOY!!
