MemberHere’s a new one I don’t think has been discussed before.
When we were all little boys and girls, we had an ambition to be like someone or be a certain profession when we “grew up.” So I’m wondering, what did YOU want to be when you were little? Is there anyone here who knew that they wanted to be something when they were little, and now they are pursuing it? Example: wanted to be a teacher when you were a little girl or boy and now you are one.
When I was about 6 or 7, I wanted to be a pediatrician. The idea of taking care of babies and young children forever thrilled me. Now I can’t stand kids. Hence why I am a communications/marketing major in college. hehehe.

Participanti always wanted to be alive… so far, so good.
honestly though, I dont think I ever really had something in mind that I wanted to be. I know I was never one of those people who claimed they wanted to be a cop, or a firefighter, or an astronaut. way too much work. heck I still dont really know what I want to be, but that’s ok. I think sometime during high school I decided I hated seeing so many terrible tv ads and wanting to do something about that, so I guess that influenced my emphasis within my major (yeah… complicated… management major with a marketing emphasis, plus a psychology minor. weird mix, hey?)
i think this quote works nicely: “Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life…the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t.” –Baz Luhrmann

Memberok brace yourselves this one is sorta funny….when I was really little I actually wanted to be a nun. do not ask me why and as of right now it was a good thing I didn’t. When I was in third grade (as far as I can remember) I always wanted to be an attorney and move up the political latter. that’s exactly where i’m going…junior in college pre-law concentration.:D

KeymasterWell when I was four I decided I was going to drive a train and wear one of those big hats, then I grew out of the phase and at age 5 decided I was going to be an astronaut. I used to write (if you consider really horrible scribbles writing) to NASA and basically send in my resume, which consisted of “I’m a well behaved boy” and “I clean my own room”. I figured which such qualities I’d be accepted for sure. Supposedly the letters were mailed (according to my parents) and they wrote back saying that other people were hired right now but I was on the list for future reference. Of course those were my parents writing that but what did I know?
My parents saved the letters and as I grew showed them to me as a reminder of how I should always reach for the best, and work hard, because you never know. Now I’m going into medical school but I still wonder if someday I’ll be able to fly and see the earth. That would still be amazing to me.

ParticipantBy the time I realized what I wanted to be, I was it. A programmer, and a network administrator.

ParticipantI wanted to be a rock star or an artist. I tried the band thing, hasn’t worked out yet so I ended up a graphic/web designer. 🙂

ParticipantKinda like Tiger there, I never really had a huge plan of what to be when I was younger. I guess a cartoonist is and will always be my true dream job, but for now I am pursuing my runner up, food science 😉

Memberahh. I remember watching tv and movies a lot when I was a kid. so my ambition in life used to change every weak. It varied from sweeper ( coz I thought its cool to do sweeping and mopping when I was a kid ) to CIA or James Bond clone or something. Right now am trying to be just myself, thats Neo :p

Memberyeah, I was reading the thread, actually my post, and I didn’t really specify what I wanted to do.
we all know I wanted to be a pediatrician, or pediatric nurse, but are well aware that rae hates kids (babies are okay…but they eventually turn into kids).
so yeah, you may be wondering what I would like to do with a communications/marketing degree. to tell you the truth, I haven’t decided yet. I could do sooo many things, but I have narrowed it down to 4 options…
*drumroll*
public relations
advertising
marketing management
event planningmy roommate was the one who got me interested in event planning. she’s a mass comm. major and wants to do PR also. so I dunno. maybe one day i’ll plan weddings or something.
