I’m quite sure that it is stored on yahoo! servers. And everytime you log in with Y!M, it is downloaded on your computer
I think that’s right….that’s why you can get your buddy list and make changes even when you are not on your regular PC. But I do have a question…. I keep getting odd messages about strange people adding me when I am not online…or at least when they think I am not online…what’s with that?
When someone tries to add you in his list while you’re not online, the request is sent to you. When you log in, you see it appear and you have the choice whether to accept it or not !
That’s how it SHOULD work….but lately I have found that people who have tried to hack me….end up with my names on their buddy lists….and I assure you i gave them NO permission to do so. This is becoming rather worrisome….why can’t people with bad intentions just leave the rest of us alone? I don’t want to hurt anyone… and I don’t even have anything important on my PC…I just want to exist….not get in anyone’s way…and have bad people stay out of my way…is that so wrong?
What I like about Ytunnel, you never see the dialog that someone added you to their list when you log in to Yahoo The activity log just shows it as a rejected request.
As far as I’m aware, if you view someone’s profile and click on the link “Add to friend list”, they are silently added. There is no notification. (you do have to log in again for that person to show up)
Even if they don’t include the option to add in their profile, all you have to do is type
http://edit.yahoo.com/config/set_buddygrp?.src=&.cmd=a&.bg=Friends&.bdl=WhateverTheirUserNameIs
But that’s what I don’t like….I mean…if I want someone to add me…I will send him/her an invite….otherwise keep me off your list. It’s freaky!
i have a programe called buddy remover.this programe removes your ID from anyone’s list without permission.i tried it and it works.but there is a doubt in my mind.if the buddy list is stored on the yahoo server can anyone access to anyone’s buddy list?i cant understand the working of this programe.
That’s cool Feel, I have a friend w/ that program as well and she loves it. I am definitely enjoying the backdoors.to option. But I don’t like not being informed when someone puts me back on their list OR puts me on their list and they are a stranger. Are people sending contacts and sharing me??? :((

To Members I have this advise… If you pm a member as requested you may be exposing yourself to a virus attack, you may be falling into a trap, Dont do it.
There is no legitimate reason for requesting a PM from within a forum where information is freely shared.
You have been warnedAMEN Rusted! Infact the information is incorrect. They CAN share without permission: everytime you add a friend to list it gives you the option to *share your friends list* with this person, They then get a list of the IDs on your friends list and can then request those people to allow you to add them and to add you.

It is outside the spirit of this forum to run an introduction agency to promoters of garbage.
