I decided that since quite a few people still used WhosOnline 1.0, I’d re-code it (Since 1.0 sucks)
Major changes from v1:
– Status of users is checked now on a timer and as well as when they log off, thus if someone signs on and off again, this will detect them as going invisible immediately, instead of waiting for the timer to loop around.
-Full buddylist is shown, as well as online, offline and invisible users.
-Login sequence now has error trapping, you’ll know when you entered the wrong password.Things to be aware of:
– You _must_ use a secondary screen name, you cannot sign on with this and AIM at the same time, they will kick each other off.
-The client is TOC, not OSCAR.Screen shot:

MemberI used this, and I have to say, it’s quite an improvement over the previous version. It’s a big convience to be able to see the progress the program is making at the bottom. Definitely worth a try. You might be surprised at how many people you find ghosting.

ParticipantIt is a RAR Archive, you can open it with WinRAR (http://www.rarlab.com).

Participantit shows you who is *actually* online, so users who are invisible are not hidden to you.

MemberXP Pro SP2
100% cpu after signing on. The buddylist window opens and I can see people on (only using a test list of 3 total though), but right after that, it locks up.
Also, can you import a buddylist?
EDIT: This did not happen on a larger buddylist (didn’t allow it to complete), but I sat there for about a minute while it cycled through checking each screen name and didn’t have a problem…but, again, it didn’t finish but went through many screen names. I signed on again with the small buddy list and it froze up, but I had to wait about 10 seconds for it to happen. I saw a “9” beside where the “manually check” button should be, but it wasn’t there. On the larger buddy list it had a “30” beside the button.
I’ll do a little more testing in the near future. Nice work, I like it! Is the manual check an http request? If not, is it possible for you to change the text response for “true” to “online” and “online, but ghosting”?

MemberHi David.
Sounds an interesting little tool. But before I go to trouble of installing and trying it, can you clarify the “2nd screenname” part ?
Does this mean I’d need to create a second name, THEN ADD all my “main name buddies” to that second name, for it to show MY buddies’ statuses ?
Because if so, I don’t want to, partly as it would take ages, but also – wouldn’t all my friends then know, and/or wonder why, I had a second name ?
Perhaps (I hope!) I misunderstand something here ?

ParticipantYou can create a second screen name, then use the import/export buddylist tool in AIM to transfer your buddies. There is no need to tell your friends about this screen name, I’m not sure why you would.
Jon8RFC: Yeah I can change the text for the manual check, (noted for nest version) and no, it’s not any kind of HTTP request.
